Position Summary
Compass Laboratory Services is seeking an experienced Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) Analyst to support, maintain, and optimize laboratory technology systems that are critical to clinical operations, patient care, and laboratory efficiency. This role serves as the bridge between laboratory operations and information technology, ensuring reliable system performance, seamless instrument integration, accurate result reporting, and compliance with healthcare regulations.
The ideal candidate combines strong clinical laboratory workflow knowledge with healthcare IT and LIS experience.

- Configure, support, maintain, and optimize Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and related applications.
- Collaborate with laboratory leadership, pathologists, clinical staff, IT teams, and vendors to improve workflows and system performance.
- Design, test, implement, troubleshoot, and support LIS enhancements, upgrades, and integrations.
- Manage interfaces between laboratory instruments, middleware, LIS, and EHR systems, including order entry and results reporting.
- Analyze laboratory workflows and translate operational requirements into effective system solutions.
- Provide end-user support, training, and issue resolution for laboratory personnel.
- Maintain system documentation, change control records, and operational procedures.
- Maintain LIS test database builds and work with LIS vendor for support requirements.
- Participate in system implementation projects and full lifecycle upgrades.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Clinical Laboratory Science, Healthcare Informatics, Medical Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Minimum 3 years of laboratory information systems, healthcare IT, or clinical laboratory experience (8 years required without a bachelor's degree).
- Experience supporting laboratory workflows, specimen processing, instrument interfacing, and results reporting.
- Experience with at least one major LIS platform, such as:
- Sunquest
- Clinisys
- Epic Beaker
- Cerner PathNet
- Cerner CoPath
- Cerner Millennium PowerChart
- Meditech
- Orchard
- Allscripts Lab
- LABDAQ
- McKesson Blood Bank
- Experience with Data Innovations Instrument Manager/Data Manager preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively with clinical stakeholders, laboratory staff, and cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HL7 interfaces, middleware, instrument connectivity, and integration engines.
- Clinical laboratory, hospital lab, physical office lab, plus other health system IT experience.
- Project management and system upgrade experience.
- Professional certifications such as PMP, ITIL, CPHIMS.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulatory and accreditation standards, including CAP, CLIA, JHACO, ISO XXX, and HIPAA requirements.
- Experience with physician office front-end ordering systems (CPOE), such as LabWorks, CareEvolve, 4Medica, etc.
- Minimum one full lifecycle laboratory implementation projects.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct and indirect supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Healthcare, Clinical Laboratory, or Health System IT setting with limited travel requirements.
