Full Job Description

Job Summary

Weekend staffing at Pleasant Acres

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Care Worker to provide exceptional support and assistance to individuals with diverse needs in various care settings. In this vital role, you will promote independence, ensure safety, and enhance quality of life for residents through personalized care. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help create a warm, respectful environment where each individual feels valued and cared for. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives while working in a dynamic and supportive team.

Duties

Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility to promote comfort and independence
Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to ensure health stability
Support residents with medication administration following prescribed protocols and documentation procedures
Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care techniques and behavior management strategies
safely assist with transfers and mobility needs
Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary requirements and assist residents during meal times to encourage proper nutrition
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment by performing light housekeeping tasks like cleaning resident areas and ensuring infection control standards are met

Requirements

Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care environments is highly preferred
Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's support strategies, and geriatrics is essential
Ability to work with individuals with developmental and mental disabilities or disabilities requiring specialized support
Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as medication administration
Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, manual handling tasks, and prolonged standing or walking throughout shifts
Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate attitude towards residents’ needs
Valid driver’s license for driving responsibilities related to community outings or transportation needs
