Access Community Action Agency is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounting Specialist - Property Management & Payroll to support fiscal operations, property management accounting, payroll processing, and related compliance activities. This position is an important part of the Finance team and helps ensure accurate financial records, timely payroll processing, and strong internal controls.
Position Summary
In support of the Access Mission and Strategic Commitments, the Accounting Specialist - Property Management & Payroll provides cash and accounts receivable oversight, property management accounting, payroll and personnel file support, and support of other fiscal operations as needed.
Essential Functions and Duties
Cash and Accounts Receivable Oversight
- Develop and maintain schedules in support of accounts receivable balances.
- Monitor loans and receivables to ensure payments are up to date.
- Responsible for cash receipt deposits and entry into the accounting system.
- Generate invoices and statements and submit them to customers as required.
Property Management Accounting
- Reconcile rent rolls, receivables, cash, and maintain the general ledger.
- Conduct a detailed analysis of specific accounts.
- Assist with the development of annual budgets.
- Prepare financial statements with supporting schedules.
- Provide additional support to property management staff.
- Monitor compliance with project funder regulations regarding finance and books of record.
Payroll and Program Support
- Process payroll accurately and in accordance with agency procedures.
- Serve as the primary payroll administrator and ensure the backup administrator is trained and able to assist and fully perform the function when necessary.
- Support payroll software data accuracy, benefit updates, and timekeeping/payroll integration.
Support of Other Fiscal Operations as Needed
- Analyze information and prepare interim and pro-forma reports as required.
- Prepare schedules and other documentation in support of annual audits.
- Reconcile other accounts as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required.
- Minimum of one year of accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with nonprofit accounting and payroll processing preferred.
- Experience with property management accounting preferred.
*Significant relevant work experience may substitute for formal education, as permitted by agency policy.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands for keyboarding and document handling.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to hear, speak, and see clearly for communication, data entry, and document review.
- Ability to travel between agency locations as required to perform essential functions.
