About Us

We are a growing high-complexity molecular diagnostics laboratory in Houston, Texas, committed to providing high-quality laboratory testing and exceptional service to healthcare providers. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Molecular Diagnostic Technologist to join our laboratory team.

Position Summary

The Molecular Diagnostic Technologist is responsible for performing high-complexity molecular diagnostic testing using multiplex real-time PCR technologies. The successful candidate will perform nucleic acid extraction, PCR assay setup, data review, routine laboratory maintenance, inventory management, and other laboratory duties while maintaining compliance with CLIA, COLA, CAP, and laboratory quality standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Molecular Biology, Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or another related life science field acceptable under CLIA regulations.
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience performing molecular diagnostic testing in a clinical laboratory.
Strong knowledge of molecular biology principles and PCR technology.
Experience operating Applied Biosystems QuantStudio™ Real-Time PCR Systems.
Excellent laboratory organization and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:

Pharmacogenomics (PGx) testing
TaqMan™ Genotyper software
Real-time PCR assay validation
High-complexity CLIA laboratories
Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
Quality Assurance and Quality Control documentation

Job Responsibilities

The Molecular Diagnostic Technologist will be responsible for:

Perform nucleic acid extraction from clinical specimens.
Perform multiplex real-time PCR testing for:
Respiratory Pathogen Panel (RPP)
Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)
Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI)
Other molecular diagnostic assays
Perform Pharmacogenomic (PGx) testing, if qualified.
Analyze and review PCR amplification data.
Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and testing records.
Ensure compliance with laboratory SOPs, CLIA, COLA, CAP, and quality management requirements.
Perform routine instrument maintenance and quality control procedures.
Monitor laboratory inventory of reagents and consumables.
Prepare Purchase Order (PO) requests when inventory reaches reorder levels.
Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing laboratory supplies.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
Participate in laboratory improvement projects, validation studies, and competency assessments as assigned.
Perform other duties assigned by the Laboratory Manager, Technical Supervisor, or Technical Director.
