Job Title: Temporary Payroll Specialist
Department: Payroll
Reports To: Payroll Manager
Employment Type: Temporary
Location: Tulsa, OK

Position Summary

The Temporary Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurately processing payroll and supporting payroll-related functions during a temporary assignment. This role ensures employees are paid correctly and on time while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Payroll Specialist works closely with Human Resources, Finance, and department managers to resolve payroll issues and maintain payroll records.

Key Responsibilities

Process weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on schedule.
Review and verify employee timekeeping records, attendance data, and payroll adjustments.
Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and garnishments.
Maintain employee payroll records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, taxes, deductions, and payroll procedures.
Assist with payroll audits and reconcile payroll reports.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
Process new hires, terminations, and employee status changes within the payroll system.
Prepare payroll-related reports for management and accounting teams.
Support year-end payroll activities, including tax forms and reporting, as needed.
Collaborate with HR and Finance to resolve payroll discrepancies promptly.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience preferred.
Experience with payroll software systems such as ADP, Paychex, UKG, Workday, or similar platforms.
Strong knowledge of payroll practices, tax regulations, and wage-and-hour laws.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Skills

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.
Experience processing multi-state payroll.
Familiarity with HRIS and timekeeping systems.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
