Full Job Description

Job Title: Journeyman Tool & Die Maker - Need ASAP

Shift- 1st 7am-3:30pm

Pay:$29-$37/hr based on experience

Location: Washington County

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Journeyman Tool & Die Maker to join their manufacturing team. This role is responsible for building, repairing, modifying, and maintaining tooling, dies, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and production equipment to support manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong machining skills, blueprint reading abilities, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

*** A valid Journeyman Tool & Die Certificate is required, as this position will also assist with training and mentoring apprentices.***

Key Responsibilities

Build, repair, modify, and maintain tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and production equipment
Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to perform precision machining operations
Read and interpret blueprints, manufacturing instructions, routings, and technical drawings
Select appropriate materials and machine parts to exact specifications and tolerances
Design and build fixtures to support manufacturing processes
Assist Engineering and Operations teams during product development, prototyping, and production launches
Perform advanced inspections using precision measuring equipment, blueprint interpretation, CMMs, and SPC methods
Troubleshoot tooling issues and recommend process improvements
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and maintain an organized work area
Utilize ERP systems to track work orders and production activities
Create sketches and drawings as needed to support tooling and fixture design
Train and mentor apprentices and other team members within the department
Maintain compliance with all safety policies and procedures

Qualifications

Journeyman Tool & Die Maker Certificate required
High School Diploma or GED required
Associate Degree in a related field preferred
Strong knowledge of tool room equipment and machining practices
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
Experience with precision measuring instruments and inspection methods
Understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling development, and fixture design
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Current weld certifications are a plus
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts including algebra and geometry

Physical Requirements

Frequently lift, carry, push, pull, grip, and grasp up to 35 lbs.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and repetitive hand movements
Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Work Environment

Hands-on work involving machine tools, precision equipment, and tooling fabrication
Opportunity to work closely with engineering, production, and apprentice team members
Manufacturing facility with moderate to high noise levels
