Full Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Clerk to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will support the organization’s financial operations by managing data entry, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards such as GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Your expertise in various accounting software and financial concepts will help maintain accurate financial records, process transactions efficiently, and contribute to the overall health of our financial systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about accounting and eager to grow their skills within a collaborative environment.

Duties

Perform data entry for invoices, payments, and expense reports using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, NetSuite, or Workday
Reconcile accounts payable and receivable to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data
Prepare journal entries and assist with general ledger accounting activities in compliance with GAAP and company policies
Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis
Assist with accounts reconciliation, including bank statements and credit card accounts, to identify discrepancies and resolve issues
Maintain detailed records of financial transactions, supporting audit readiness and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance requirements

Qualifications

Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles within corporate or governmental settings
Strong knowledge of financial concepts such as debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account reconciliation
Familiarity with accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms; experience with Workday or UltiPro is a plus
Knowledge of GAAP standards and governmental accounting practices preferred
Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; proficiency in 10 key typing and attention to detail
Ability to analyze financial data accurately and perform account analysis efficiently

5 plus years of experience and or degree in Accounting
