Full-time position available with the Aviation Department - Bus Operations Division
Location: 400 Panama City Ave
Pay Starting at: $29.98 per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00a.m.-3:30p.m. with Mandatory overtime during inclement weather and emergencies.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do
Plans, coordinates, supervises and directs the work of skilled and semi-skilled technicians engaged in the maintenance and repair of automotive and related equipment and general supervisor of the activities in a large garage facility.
Supervises and instructs subordinate technicians in the maintenance and repair of light automotive and complex heavy, road construction, and specialized equipment.
Monitors work in progress through to completion.
Makes visual inspections and tests equipment in order to determine needs for repair or adjustments and determine return to service.
Keeps records and files necessary in the operation of an automotive repair garage, including maintenance of records in a computerized Fleet Management System.
Performs related work as required.

Technicians are well-supported, productive, and consistently improving skills
Fleet downtime is reduced and vehicles return to service quickly
Records in the Fleet Management System are accurate and up to date
Daily operations run smoothly with clear oversight and accountability

Qualifications

REQUIRES
High school graduation and six (6) years of experience in the automotive mechanic's trade, including one (1) year at the level of Senior Fleet Maintenance Technician AND
six (6) month of lead work experience
Must possess a valid State-issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies
Ability to possess a valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) Class A, B, or C issued by the State of Missouri prior to the end of the employee's probationary period
Ability to pass a physical examination, preemployment drug screen, and background check as prescribed by the City
Ability to pass 10-Year TSA Background Check
Ability to obtain and maintain an MCI Issued AOA Movement Area Badge with driving privileges
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English via 2-way radio

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
