The Role
We are seeking a skilled Aerospace Composite Bonding Technician to join our production team. You will be responsible for the fabrication of advanced carbon-fiber components, ensuring every part meets the rigorous standards required for extreme thermal environments.
Position Responsibilities/Requirements
- Perform complex hand layups of carbon fiber composite systems, in accordance with detailed engineering specifications.
- Perform structural bonding and fastening of composite assemblies, including surface preparation for bonding and resin mixing to proper ratios.
- Perform layout, cutting, and tool mold/mandrel preparation using a variety of materials and structural adhesives.
- Ability to interpret complex blueprints, ply orientation diagrams, and technical work instructions.
- Maintain meticulous production logs and quality records
- Ability to use hand tools such as rollers, paper cutters, scissors, X-acto knives, and power hand tools.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1 year of hands-on experience with all facets of the fabrication of composite structures.
- Experience with multiple composite fabrication techniques (e.g. prepreg, wet layup).
- Proficient using hand tools commonly required for composite shop tasks.
- Proficient reading and working from written and oral engineering instructions, detailed blueprints, and similar authorizing documents.
- Proficient in basic math and geometry, and able to measure and make angular patterns.
- Freely able to frequently lift and/or move 30+ pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Freely able to twist, bend down, raise arms overhead, and stand for the duration of the work shift.
- All candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test
- Security: Must possess or be able to obtain an active U.S. Security Clearance (requires U.S. Citizenship). Clearance application process will be facilitated by C-CAT.
