St. Joseph School - 8th Grade Teacher/Science Teacher

St. Joseph School in Fremont, CA is a MSJ Dominican affiliate school and a part of St. Joseph Parish. We are dedicated to providing a stong Catholic religious formation and excellent academic education. Resilient, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Overview:The 8th Grade Teacher will provides a high quality education program for students and uphold the mission and values of St. Joseph School and the Catholic Faith. Responsibilities:
Organizes classroom systems/procedures and manages student behavior to ensure all students are fully engaged in learning and maintaining classroom safety and order.
Develop and implement science lesson plans and classroom activities consistent with Diocese of Oakland Curriculum Standards and California State Standards.
Assesses students regularly, examines student assessment data, and refines classroom activities to differentiate instruction for each student.
Collaborates closely with Middle School Team Members to align curriculum across subjects, improve own and others instructional practices and share best practices.
Actively participates in professional development activities, including: training sessions and working with principal, instructional coaches.
Provides students and their families with regular and timely information on classroom activities and student progress; finds ways to involve parents/guardians in their child's education.
Tracks critical student information and maintains accurate student records especially those necessary for high school applications.
Identifies unique student needs and collaborates with other team members andoutside service providers and address learning challenges.
Plan and organize Eight Grade Retreat and Graduation Activities.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of child cognitive development and different learning styles.
Knowledge of subject matter, including California State Standards and subject-specific frameworks.
Knowledge of assessments.
Ability and willingness to reflect and improve.
Ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents and community.

Minimum educational level

Bachelors' degree
Preferred Valid California Teaching Credential Experience required:
1+ year working with students as a teacher, teacher intern, or teaching assistant preferred
