Position Summary
As a Freight Broker / Dispatcher, you will coordinate expedited shipments from pickup through delivery, communicate with customers and carriers, negotiate freight rates, and monitor active loads to ensure on-time service. Responsibilities
- Coordinate and dispatch freight shipments.
- Source qualified carriers and negotiate competitive freight rates.
- Monitor shipments from pickup through final delivery.
- Communicate shipment updates to customers by phone and email.
- Track drivers and proactively resolve service issues.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and carriers.
- Enter and maintain accurate shipment information within the transportation management system.
- Respond to after-hours and emergency transportation requests.
- Ensure all shipping documents and records are accurate.
- Work closely with fellow dispatchers to provide seamless 24/7 customer support.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in freight brokerage, dispatching, logistics, or transportation is preferred.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to learn transportation software.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
- Experience with expedited or time-critical freight is a plus.
Schedule
- Full-time position
- Fixed 2nd or 3rd shift
- Weekend availability required
- Holidays may be required as part of scheduled shifts
