Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Paralegal to support attorneys in a general practice law firm. The ideal candidate will assist with case management, legal document preparation, client communications, and administrative tasks across various areas of law, including civil litigation, family law, estate planning and administration, real estate, contracts, business formations, and immigration applications.
This position requires excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
● Prepare, draft, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, contracts, and other legal forms.
● Conduct legal research and gather relevant case information.
● Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files.
● Assist attorneys with case preparation, discovery, and trial support.
● Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and third parties.
● Schedule meetings, hearings, depositions, and client consultations.
● Monitor case deadlines and maintain attorney calendars.
● File legal documents with courts and government agencies, both electronically and in person when necessary.
● Review and summarize records, contracts, and other legal documents.
● Assist with client intake and maintain accurate records in the firm's case management system.
● Support billing, timekeeping, and general administrative functions as needed.
● Ensure compliance with firm policies, court rules, and confidentiality requirements.
● Including Estate planning and administration, real estate, contracts, business formations, and immigration applications.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate degree, Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 1–3 years of paralegal or legal assistant experience.
- Must be a commissioned New York State Notary Public in good standing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams).
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a general practice law firm.
- Familiarity with legal research tools and case management software.
- Experience with New York electronic court filing systems (NYSCEF).
- Knowledge of litigation procedures and legal document preparation.
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
