Director of Construction

Estep Builders is a boutique custom home builder serving Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina. We build high-performance custom homes with timeless architecture, uncompromising craftsmanship, and a commitment to honoring Christ through the way we serve our clients, trade partners, and team.

We intentionally build a limited number of homes each year because we believe quality should never be sacrificed for volume.

We’re looking for an exceptional construction leader who takes ownership, solves problems before they become issues, and is passionate about building homes that will stand for generations.

This is a leadership opportunity for someone who wants to help shape the future of a growing company, not simply supervise jobs.

Your Mission

As our Director of Construction, you will own the execution of every Estep Builders project from pre-construction through warranty. You will lead our field operations, oversee our in-house carpentry team and trade partners, maintain exceptional quality standards, and ensure every client receives an outstanding building experience.

When our clients think about their home-building journey, your leadership should be reflected in every detail.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Lead all field operations across multiple custom home projects.
Own project schedules from groundbreaking through completion.
Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspections, and material deliveries.
Lead and develop our in-house carpentry team.
Perform quality control inspections throughout every phase of construction.
Maintain jobsite safety and organization.
Communicate proactively with homeowners throughout construction.
Identify and solve problems before they impact schedule, budget, or quality.
Protect and strengthen the Estep Builders reputation on every project.

Preferred Experience

10+ years in residential construction leadership.
Experience managing custom homes.
Strong understanding of residential construction methods and sequencing.
Knowledge of building science, moisture management, air sealing, and high-performance construction is highly valued.
Ability to read plans, manage budgets, and maintain project schedules.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
