Position Summary
Swamp Fox Agency is seeking a strategic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide executive leadership for all financial operations of the agency and its affiliated captive insurance company. The CFO will serve as a key member of the leadership team, responsible for developing and executing financial strategies that support organizational growth, profitability, and long-term sustainability.
This position oversees all accounting, financial planning, budgeting, treasury management, captive insurance financial operations, risk management, and regulatory compliance functions. The CFO partners closely with agency leadership to drive strategic initiatives, evaluate business opportunities, and ensure sound financial stewardship across the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Executive Financial Leadership
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the President/CEO and leadership team on all financial matters.
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the agency's long-term goals and objectives.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations regarding growth opportunities, acquisitions, investments, and operational improvements.
- Present financial performance and strategic recommendations to ownership and board members as needed.
- Lead the development of key financial performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting metrics.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Oversee annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes.
- Monitor organizational performance against financial goals and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
- Evaluate profitability by department, product line, and business segment.
- Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support decision-making.
- Ensure effective cash flow management and capital planning.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Provide oversight of all accounting operations and financial reporting activities.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Maintain compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Establish and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Oversee audit preparation and coordination with external auditors.
Captive Insurance Oversight
- Provide executive oversight of the agency's captive insurance company.
- Work closely with captive managers, actuaries, auditors, investment advisors, and regulatory agencies.
- Monitor captive financial performance, capital adequacy, reserves, and investment strategies.
- Evaluate underwriting results, claims trends, and risk financing strategies.
- Ensure compliance with captive domicile regulations and governance requirements.
- Present financial reports and recommendations to captive board members.
Treasury & Investment Management
- Oversee banking relationships, cash management, and investment strategies.
- Manage capital allocation and financial risk management initiatives.
- Monitor liquidity and working capital needs.
- Evaluate financing options and opportunities to strengthen the agency's financial position.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and insurance-related financial regulations.
- Oversee tax planning and compliance activities.
- Manage enterprise financial risk and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Ensure adherence to corporate governance standards and financial policies.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and develop accounting and finance personnel.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for finance team members.
- Collaborate with department leaders to align financial goals with operational objectives.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, or related field preferred.
- CPA designation strongly preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience.
- Minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing financial operations.
- Insurance industry experience required.
- Experience with captive insurance companies, risk financing programs, or alternative risk structures strongly preferred.
- Proven experience with strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and corporate finance principles.
- Thorough understanding of insurance agency operations and captive insurance structures.
- Exceptional strategic planning and financial analysis skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to translate complex financial information into actionable business recommendations.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Advanced proficiency in financial systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA certification.
- MBA or advanced business degree.
- Experience in commercial insurance, captive insurance, or risk management organizations.
- Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or business expansion initiatives.
- Experience serving as a financial leader within a growing organization.

Salary Range: $140,000 - $220,000+ annually, depending on experience, credentials, and insurance/captive expertise.
Pay: $140,000.00 - $220,000.00 per year
