Job Title: Stone Lamination Specialist & Fabricator/Polisher
Department: Production / Fabrication Shop
Reports to: Shop Foreman
Role Overview: We are seeking a high-level Stone Lamination Specialist to join our team. This role is a critical addition to our production capacity as we expand our commercial millwork and dealer accounts. Your primary focus will be the precision execution of mitered edges and complex lamination using natural and engineered stone as well as Dekton and porcelain surfaces. When the lamination table is clear, you will serve as a versatile Lead Fabricator/Polisher completing hand polish work
Primary Lamination Responsibilities:
- Precision Mitered Edges: Execute seamless 45-degree mitered aprons and drop edges for high-end residential and commercial projects.
- Expert Color Matching: Mix and tint adhesives (epoxies/polyester resins) to perfectly match the color and veining of natural stone, quartz, Dekton and porcelain.
- Seam Integration: Use vacuum pods, miter clamps, and specialized alignment tools to achieve "invisible" hair-line seams.
- Final Edge Finishing: Use wet polishers and hand grinders to blend laminated edges into a factory-quality finish that matches the slab face.
Manual Fabrication & Shop Flow (Overflow Support):
- Manual Cutouts: Perform hand-cutting and polishing for undersurface sinks, cooktops, and radius corners.
- Quality Inspection: Review pieces for chips, scratches, or fissures before and after lamination to ensure zero-defect delivery.
- Hand-Profiling: Shape and polish various edge profiles (ogee, bullnose, bevel) using hand tools to meet custom specifications.
- Material Logistics: Utilize overhead cranes, vacuum lifts, and A-frames to move slabs safely and maintain an organized workspace.
- Backlog Support: Proactively assist the fabrication team with hand-polishing or backsplash trimming and polishing during high-volume periods.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: 3+ years in stone fabrication, with a heavy emphasis on lamination and miter work.
- Technical Mastery: Expert-level proficiency with pneumatic and electric hand tools (grinders, polishers, saws).
- Material Expertise: Deep understanding of the bonding and handling characteristics of Granite, Marble, Quartz, Dekton and Porcelain.
- Eye for Detail: Exceptional color vision and the ability to identify minor imperfections in stone surfaces.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work comfortably in a wet-shop environment.
- High manual dexterity and the stamina for precision hand-work throughout the shift.
