Full Job Description

Our client, a leading enterprise in the technology sector, is seeking a Mainframe IMS Application DBA to join their team. As a Mainframe IMS Application DBA, you will be part of the Database Support Department supporting the IMS Database Management team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and a proactive approach, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Mainframe IMS Application DBA

Location: Phoenix, Arizona

What's the Job?

Manage and support IMS database environments in a high-availability enterprise setting.
Support and maintain various IMS database types including Full Function, Fast Path, and HALDB.
Perform database administration activities such as definition, allocation, and dataset management.
Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance.
Collaborate with application development, system programmers, and operations teams to ensure database integrity and efficiency.

What's Needed?

Minimum of 7 years of DBA experience supporting IMS databases in a z/OS environment using Sysplexed Data Sharing.
Strong knowledge of IMS database types, utilities, and maintenance activities.
Hands-on experience with IMS utilities, backup and recovery, and performance tuning.
Familiarity with JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, REXX, and batch/online IMS environments.
Experience troubleshooting database abends, data corruption, and integrity issues.
