Job Description - Laser Artisan
Overview of the Position: The position of Laser Artisan is a full time position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week and reports to the Laser Lead. Using the computer and laser machine, the position is responsible to enter and cut materials to mass produce interior signs to the customer specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :Consistently create and perform customer focused practices, maintaining quality workmanship at all times. Work respectfully and cooperatively with artisans, leads and management, with a goal to create positive working relationships. Maintain work efficiency and ensure goals are met. Communicate positively and effectively with others in this department, other departments and your supervisor to ensure orders are processed accurately and on schedule. Establish and maintain an acceptable attendance record, reporting to work on time and as scheduled. Laser cut signs according to the work order and or job specifications, paying close attention to the details on the paperwork to ensure accuracy. Attend to machine for tool changes as needed. Use various computer software to output CNC files for the laser machines. Organize and prioritize work. Use the 4D system to track and document order production. Report errors, defective materials or questionable quality to the department lead. Pull paper work and create backorders when required. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment based on company and departmental 5S standards. Upon completion, inspect order for accuracy before sending on to the next area. Other duties or tasks may be assigned as needed to meet company goals and requirements.
Qualification and Education Requirements Artisan should have good hand/eye coordination, the ability to read rulers, and the ability to read and interpret job orders for accurate completion.
Artisan should have basic computer skills with working knowledge of the Windows operating system. High School diploma or GED equivalent. Prior machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment.
Current Openings:
- 2nd Shift - Monday thru Friday 2:00pm - 10:30 pm
- 3rd Shift - Sunday thru Thursday 9:30pm - 6:00am
Overtime required based on company needs.
Language Skills : Must have ability to speak, read and understand English. Ability to read and interpret job orders and documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and company procedures.
Safety Requirements: Ability to perform the safe use of laser machines and materials being cut. General safety and housekeeping methods should be understood and performed.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties, the artisan will require sitting and standing, ability to lift up to 40 pounds on occasion. The artisan frequently is required to use hand to finger, handle, or feel objects or tools. The artisan is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Work Environment -The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an Artisan encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Will work in an environmentally controlled manufacturing production area and be subject to all areas connected to the production floor.
May be exposed to any number of elements but none present to the extent of being disagreeable. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to glue, adhesives and plastic cleaning solution and can be exposed to paint and ink, paint and ink fumes, and low to moderate levels of noise. This is a climate controlled environment but the work area may become warm due to the temperature of the machines.
