Overview: The IT Operations Analyst – Core Banking Systems is responsible for the administration, configuration, integration, automation, release management, and operational support of MCU’s Core Banking System, Symitar, and related enterprise applications. This role supports mission-critical banking platforms that enable daily member transactions, operational processing, digital banking connectivity, secure file transmission, reporting, and enterprise business continuity.
This position serves as a specialized technical resource for Core Banking operations and is accountable for maintaining system reliability, security, performance, availability, and operational readiness across integrated platforms including Symitar, OpCon, Axway, IPSWITCH/MOVEit, SymXchange, online banking interfaces, IVR, Secure FTP transmissions, and other third-party connections.
The role requires independent judgment, technical analysis, cross-functional coordination, vendor engagement, and disciplined execution of production changes, system upgrades, automation workflows, release activities, disaster recovery support, and compliance documentation. The Analyst partners with business stakeholders, IT teams, vendors, and external service providers to support new products, system enhancements, operational controls, and continuous improvement initiatives that reduce manual processing, strengthen reliability, and protect member-facing services.
Responsibilities:
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Core Banking Systems Administration & Platform Support

Administer, configure, maintain, and support Symitar and related ancillary platforms, including OpCon, Axway, IPSWITCH/MOVEit, SymXchange, Secure FTP transmissions, online banking integrations, IVR connectivity, and other third-party interfaces.

Serve as a Core Banking technical resource for platform functionality, system configuration, operational processing, job scheduling, file transmission workflows, and system integration support.

Monitor production system health, automated processing, server performance, interface connectivity, and critical operational dependencies to identify and resolve issues before business or member impact occurs.

Perform advanced troubleshooting for Core Banking, automation, file processing, batch operations, and integration issues, including root cause analysis, corrective action, and escalation coordination.
Release Management, Change Control & Operational Readiness

Plan, coordinate, test, document, and implement Core Banking software releases, upgrades, service packs, AIX patches, VIOS updates, HMC updates, TLV updates, backups, maintenance activities, and system enhancements.

Ensure production changes are executed in accordance with change management standards, operational controls, testing requirements, communication plans, and audit expectations.

Coordinate user testing, stakeholder communications, implementation readiness, and post-release validation for system updates impacting Core Banking, interfaces, and ancillary business applications.

Maintain release documentation, implementation evidence, issue logs, rollback considerations, and operational support materials to support audit readiness and business continuity.
Automation, Workflow Design & Operational Efficiency

Design, implement, monitor, and maintain automated workflows using OpCon, including job definitions, schedules, calendars, event triggers, dependencies, exception handling, and operational alerts.

Analyze manual processes, job failures, recurring exceptions, and operational pain points to recommend automation, workflow redesign, and process improvement opportunities.

Implement corrective actions and process enhancements that improve accuracy, reduce manual effort, increase repeatability, and strengthen operational resilience.
Project Delivery & System Implementations

Lead or coordinate assigned technology workstreams, system enhancements, new product implementations, integration efforts, and business process changes within the Core Banking environment.

Partner with business stakeholders, vendors, internal IT teams, and external service providers to gather requirements, assess system impacts, document technical considerations, and support successful delivery.

Provide Core Banking platform expertise during project planning, testing, implementation, issue resolution, and transition-to-support activities.
Security, Risk, Compliance & Documentation

Support information security controls, data privacy requirements, regulatory compliance standards, secure system configurations, and operational practices that protect MCU systems and member data.

Maintain technical procedures, support documentation, system configuration records, troubleshooting guides, change records, implementation documentation, and audit evidence.

Support disaster recovery, business continuity, backup validation, operational resilience, and recovery readiness activities for Core Banking and related systems.
Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination

Serve as a liaison with technology vendors and service providers for issue resolution, product support, system enhancements, release coordination, and escalation management.

Track vendor issues, communicate operational impacts, validate remediation steps, and coordinate follow-up actions with internal stakeholders.

Requirements:
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related technical field preferred.

Equivalent combination of education, technical training, certifications, and relevant experience may be considered.
Experience
-
Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in IT Operations, Core Banking Systems Administration, Application Support, Systems Analysis, or a related technology role, preferably within a financial institution or credit union environment.

Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting Symitar/Episys or a comparable Core Banking platform.
-
Experience supporting enterprise job scheduling, workload automation, production processing, secure file transmission, release management, and system integration activities.

Experience coordinating technology projects, production changes, system upgrades, vendor support, testing activities, and cross-functional implementation efforts.

Experience supporting regulated financial services environments, including audit documentation, operational controls, incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity activities.
Technical Knowledge & Skills

Strong working knowledge of Symitar/Episys Core Banking functionality, operational processing, system configuration, and integrated platform support.

Experience with OpCon automation, job scheduling, workflow dependencies, exception handling, and production monitoring.

Working knowledge of AIX, VIOS, HMC, backup/recovery concepts, server administration, TCP/IP networking, Secure FTP processing, Axway, IPSWITCH/MOVEit, SymXchange, and online/digital banking integrations.

Knowledge of change management, release management, incident response, system documentation, audit support, disaster recovery, business continuity, and operational controls.

Ability to analyze system issues, translate technical findings into operational recommendations, and communicate effectively with business users, IT teams, vendors, and management.

Why You’ll Love Working Here:
The pay range for this position is between $81,700-134,730 annually. Actual base pay offered may vary depending on a number of factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus, 401(k) with an 6% employer match per pay period. Benefits for this position include Medical, vision, dental, life, and disability insurance, flexible paid time off and 11 paid holidays annually.
