Instructional System Design Specialist / Senior Instructional Designer
Position Summary
Leading Edge Skills LLC is seeking an experienced Instructional System Design Specialist to design, develop, document, and iterate blended learning content for a federal defense civilian workforce development program. This role is central to converting Government objectives, technical content, subject matter expert input, and adult learning principles into effective online and in-person learning experiences.
The ideal candidate understands how to build curriculum that is structured, measurable, engaging, accessible, and mission-aligned. This individual must be able to work with technical experts, create student-facing and instructor-facing materials, develop assessments and rubrics, support LMS integration, and revise courseware based on review feedback and pilot data.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Adult Education, Blended Learning, Instructional Design, or related field; or
- Six years of experience in adult curriculum development or a related field.
- Eligible for required Government access/background requirements.
- Experience in blended learning curriculum and lesson development.
- Master’s degree in Adult Education or Instructional Design is highly desired.
- Experience designing and delivering online/blended learning for adult, professional, or military audiences is highly desired.
- Proven ability to translate complex technical content into clear, accessible learning modules.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop blended learning curriculum using instructional systems design principles.
- Create lesson plans, instructor guides, student guides, assignments, templates, worksheets, assessments, rubrics, and handouts.
- Align materials to course objectives, learning outcomes, Bloom’s taxonomy, and Government-approved design guidance.
- Develop student-facing and instructor-facing content for online and in-person learning phases.
- Work with technical SMEs to ensure content accuracy, clarity, and instructional effectiveness.
- Support formative assessments, summative assessments, capstone activities, simulations, and performance-based learning.
- Support LMS course build-out, SCORM packaging, and courseware documentation.
- Maintain version control and support rolling delivery of course materials.
- Revise materials based on Government review, learner feedback, and adult learning best practices.
Preferred Experience
- Experience developing federal, DoD, military, leadership, or technical training curriculum.
- Familiarity with ADDIE, Bloom’s taxonomy, adult learning theory, competency-based learning, and blended learning design.
- Experience with Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, Articulate, Captivate, or similar LMS/eLearning tools.
Pay: $80.00 - $100.00 per hour
