Job Summary

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Coder and Biller, where your expertise will directly impact the efficiency of our revenue cycle management and ensure accurate billing for inpatient and outpatient services. In this vital role, you will analyze medical records, assign appropriate codes using industry-standard systems, and facilitate timely reimbursement from health insurance providers. Your attention to detail and knowledge of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and insurance processes will help optimize revenue flow while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your coding skills in a fast-paced environment dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care and financial accuracy.

Responsibilities

Review and interpret medical records, including clinical documentation, to accurately assign diagnosis (ICD-9, ICD-10) and procedure (CPT) codes for inpatient and outpatient services.
Ensure proper application of Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) classifications for hospital billing purposes.
Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to document coding activities and facilitate billing processes.
Prepare and submit precise medical claims to insurance companies, third-party payers, and government programs, adhering to all regulatory guidelines.
Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies while maintaining excellent communication with insurance providers.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of health insurance policies, billing regulations, and revenue cycle management best practices to ensure compliance and maximize reimbursements.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies and improve coding accuracy for future claims.

Experience

Proven experience in medical coding and billing within a healthcare setting, with a strong understanding of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards.
Familiarity with CPT coding for procedures and services, including coding for inpatient services.
Knowledge of DRG systems used in hospital billing processes.
Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems for electronic health record management related to billing and coding tasks.
Strong understanding of medical terminology, health insurance policies, and third-party billing procedures.
Experience working with revenue cycle management processes to optimize reimbursement workflows.
Prior work in medical office environments or healthcare facilities is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for the right candidate eager to learn.
