Full Job Description

Ludlow Composites Corporation is an 80+ year old leading manufacturer of PVC and latex foam products.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Unit Operator/Group Leader is responsible for ensuring that the unit is set-up for production in accordance with the daily production schedule as well as providing leadership to ensure, efficiency and continuous improvement consistent with established standards, customer expectations and production goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Shift is 7PM - 5AM (Tuesday through Friday)
Ensures all safety precautions are followed on unit during production
Reviews the unit schedule and the product set-up database to ensure correct process settings prior to production.
Directs the set-up of the line for production including but not limited to line speed, oven temperature, gauge, product width, embossing roller and conveyor speeds.
Leads unit's Quality Inspector and Compounder to ensure products all meet specifications.
Records daily process settings
Monitors material through use of non-contact sensors as product progresses through the unit.
Ensures all materials meet the requirements of production.
Ensures mechanical equipment is monitored throughout production to manufacture first quality goods.
Maintains daily reports of production changeovers and downtime.
Assists unit's Quality Inspector in taking and recording quality samples
Continuously reviews process and product non-conformance and reports all discrepancies to the Production Supervisor.
Performs assigned TPM responsibilities.
Reports any faulty equipment to the Production Supervisor.
Develops an understanding of relevant ISO 9001:2015 Standards and ensures processes are in compliance with quality requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS

Must be 18 years of age.
Two years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and write effectively; good communication skills.
Excellent math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
Strong computer skills; ability to learn Ludlow specific software and spreadsheets including but not limited to MISys, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
Ability to use physical exertion such as prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching and climbing; ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Ability to operate forklift in accordance with Ludlow Composites safety policy.
Must pass background screen
Must pass drug screen
