Full Job Description

Job Summary

Muskegon Surgery Center is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and patient-focused Registered Nurse to join our Admitting and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) team. This position plays a vital role in preparing patients for surgery, providing safe recovery care following anesthesia, and ensuring every patient receives exceptional care throughout their surgical experience.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments upon admission, including vital signs, medical history review, and initial physical examinations.
Manage patient intake procedures efficiently while ensuring compliance with protocols and HIPAA regulations.
Monitor patients in the PACU for signs of pain, airway compromise, or adverse reactions; implement appropriate interventions promptly.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical documentation within electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), including ICD coding and nursing notes.
Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans effectively.
Provide education and discharge instructions to patients and their families to promote recovery at home or in long-term care settings.

Qualifications

Required
Current Michigan Registered Nurse license
Current BLS certification
Current ACLS certification (or ability to obtain within required timeframe)
Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining attention to detail

Preferred

Previous Ambulatory Surgery Center experience
PACU experience
Critical Care or Emergency Department experience
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining attention to detail
