Full Job Description

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Guard Check to join our yard team at Optimus Translog Services. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining the security and efficient flow of our terminal by controlling access, verifying interchanges, conducting inspections, and supporting safe yard operations.

This is a dynamic position that combines security responsibilities with administrative tasks in a fast-paced trucking and logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and authorize entry/exit of all vehicles, drivers, and visitors to the yard
Verify and document trailer and cargo interchanges, including taking photos and recording load details
Conduct routine yard patrols to ensure assets are secure and report any irregularities
Organize and monitor parking and movement of trucks, trailers, and equipment
Collaborate with drivers, dispatchers, and yard personnel to resolve operational issues
Maintain accurate records and documentation for all yard activities
Enforce company policies, safety rules, and yard procedures
Communicate effectively with management and other departments
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Yard Supervisor or Terminal Manager

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a guard check, interchange clerk, yard security, or similar role (preferred)
Strong attention to detail and excellent record-keeping skills
Clear verbal and written communication skills
Basic computer proficiency (email, Microsoft Word, Excel)
Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Professional demeanor with high integrity and reliability
Bilingual (English/Spanish) – highly preferred for communicating with drivers

Physical & Work Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods
Must wear steel-toed boots and other required PPE
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions (day and night shifts)
Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
