Full Job Description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced security consultant to conduct a comprehensive security assessment spanning three related areas: physical property (including large or rural sites), valuable assets and equipment held on properties, and the personal safety of the household and staff. The goal is to reduce risk and improve safety through professional evaluation and practical recommendations — not simply to sell or install security equipment. The assessment itself is the core deliverable. Discretion, sound judgment, and a calm, measured approach are essential.

Ideal Background

We are looking for a consultant with genuine expertise in executive protection or security assessments. Relevant experience may include:

Executive protection, close protection, or personal security details
Residential and estate security assessments, particularly for private clients
Security of large, commercial, or rural properties, including warehouses, outbuildings, and multi-acre sites
Protection of high-value assets, equipment, and inventory, including loss-prevention and inventory-control measures
Law enforcement, military, or corporate/physical security backgrounds
Threat and vulnerability assessment, including situations involving a hostile or persistent individual
Open-source intelligence (OSINT) and personal privacy / digital footprint reduction
Relevant certifications (e.g., PSP, CPP, CPO) and appropriate state licensing and insurance are a plus

Property & Household Assessment

Consultant will evaluate the property and household and provide prioritized, actionable recommendations. Areas to assess include:

Camera placement — eliminating blind spots and ensuring coverage that can capture vehicle license plates and clear images of people approaching the home.
Perimeter security — gates, fencing, and all entry points.
Lighting — especially motion-activated lighting around buildings and driveways.
Alarm systems — including solutions that can alert the household even when no one is on the property.
Safe rooms or protected areas — identifying or establishing a secure place inside the home to shelter while waiting for law enforcement, if ever needed.
Driveway and access control — particularly important on rural properties with long or open approaches.
Household procedures — clear protocols for family members, visitors, and workers.

Large Property & Asset Protection

Consultant should assess and recommend measures such as:

Site perimeter & zoning — securing extended boundaries, multiple structures, and outdoor storage, and separating public, staff, and restricted areas.
Building & property security — recommendations on access control with doors, locks, windows, loading areas, and hardened or monitored storage for high-value equipment and inventory.
Surveillance coverage — camera and sensor placement scaled to a larger footprint, with reliable recording, remote monitoring, and off-site backup of footage.
Vulnerability of stored assets — identifying single points of failure, high-theft targets, and gaps in how valuable equipment is stored, transported, and handled on site.
Staff & visitor procedures — vetting, access levels, and protocols for employees, contractors, and other visitors to reduce both external and insider risk.

Background & Digital Footprint Review

Beyond the physical property, the consultant should be able to assess vulnerabilities in publicly available information and personal exposure, and advise on how to minimize a personal digital footprint. This includes reviewing what information about the household and business is discoverable online, identifying how it could be misused, and recommending practical steps to reduce that exposure.

Guidance on Documentation & Escalation

Where there is a history of threatening, or persistent negative behavior by another party, the consultant should also advise on safe, level-headed practices, including:

Documenting incidents with dates, times, and photos or video — only when it can be done safely.
Reporting threats or criminal behavior to law enforcement through appropriate channels.
Avoiding direct confrontation wherever possible and de-escalating rather than provoking.

Deliverables

A written security assessment covering the property, high-value assets, and personal safety, with prioritized recommendations.
Clear, practical guidance the household and any on-site staff can act on, with equipment recommendations kept vendor-neutral where possible.
An asset-protection and loss-prevention plan for valuable equipment and inventory, where relevant.
Recommended procedures and, where relevant, a personal privacy / digital footprint reduction plan.
A follow-up review or walkthrough after any recommended changes are implemented (optional).

Confidentiality

This engagement involves access to sensitive information about the property, its occupants, assets, and business operations. The selected consultant must sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before any assessment work begins, and is expected to keep all information, findings, and recommendations strictly confidential during and after the engagement.

Key Qualities

Discretion and the ability to handle sensitive personal, family, and business matters confidentially.
A risk-reduction mindset that avoids escalating an already tense situation.
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain recommendations in plain language.
Independence from equipment sales, so advice is based on need rather than commission.

Pay: $120.00 - $350.00 per hour
