Director of Commercial Operations - Jacksonville
Position Summary
Perry Roofing Contractors is seeking an experienced, results-driven Director of Commercial Operations - Jacksonville to lead all aspects of commercial roofing operations – with expected revenue growth of 20 million over the next 5 years. This leadership position is responsible for ensuring the successful execution of every commercial project - from contract turnover through final completion - while delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining the highest safety and quality standards, and achieving targeted financial performance.
The Director of Commercial Operations - Jacksonville provides strategic leadership over Project Management, Production, Field Operations, Scheduling, Safety, Quality Control, and Workforce Development. This individual will work closely with the CEO and other senior leaders to develop operational strategies that support sustainable growth, improve profitability, and reinforce Perry Roofing's reputation as Florida's preferred commercial roofing contractor.
The ideal candidate is an accomplished commercial roofing executive with extensive experience leading large teams, improving operational processes, mentoring leaders, and successfully managing multiple complex commercial roofing projects simultaneously.
Primary Responsibilities
Executive Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership for all commercial roofing operations
- Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with company goals and growth objectives
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO regarding operational performance, staffing needs, resource planning, and process improvements
- Build a culture of accountability, ownership, continuous improvement, and exceptional customer service
- Lead and mentor Production Managers, Project Managers, Superintendents, and other operational leaders
- Develop succession plans and leadership development programs for operations personnel
Operations Management
- Oversee all commercial roofing projects from project turnover through closeout
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to Perry Roofing's quality standards
- Balance manpower, equipment, subcontractors, and scheduling across all active projects
- Resolve operational challenges while minimizing project disruptions
- Standardize project execution processes throughout the company
- Improve operational efficiency while maintaining quality workmanship
Financial Performance
- Own the operational profitability of all commercial projects in Jacksonville area
- Monitor project margins, labor productivity, production rates, and financial performance
- Review job cost reports and identify opportunities to improve profitability
- Collaborate with Estimating during project handoff to ensure successful execution
- Oversee change order management and cost controls
- Participate in annual budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning
Customer Experience
- Ensure every customer receives exceptional project experience
- Build strong relationships with owners, general contractors, architects, consultants, and property managers
- Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally
- Conduct executive-level project reviews when necessary
- Support business development efforts by maintaining Perry Roofing's reputation for quality and reliability
Safety & Risk Management
- Champion a company-wide safety culture
- Ensure full OSHA compliance and adherence to company safety standards
- Review safety performance metrics and lead corrective actions
- Oversee incident investigations and implement preventative measures
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications, building codes, and contractual requirements
Quality Assurance
- Establish and maintain consistent quality standards across every project
- Develop quality control procedures and inspection processes
- Conduct executive project audits and field reviews
- Ensure warranty requirements and manufacturer installation standards are consistently achieved
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout operations
Team Development
- Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing operational leaders
- Conduct performance evaluations and coaching
- Identify future leaders and create career development opportunities
- Promote collaboration between Estimating, Sales, Accounting, Service, and Operations
- Foster a culture of professionalism, respect, accountability, and teamwork
Operational Excellence
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) for operational success
- Monitor and report on production, safety, profitability, scheduling, quality, and customer satisfaction metrics
- Improve operational systems, workflows, and reporting
- Evaluate and implement technology that enhances efficiency
- Lead process improvement initiatives across the organization
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 7-10 years of commercial roofing experience
- Minimum 5 years commercial roofing operations or production team leadership
- Demonstrated success managing multiple large commercial roofing projects simultaneously
- Extensive knowledge of TPO, PVC, modified bitumen, built-up roofing, metal roofing, coatings, and roof restoration systems
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing project profitability and operational budgets
- Proven ability to lead managers, field personnel, and cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, construction safety, and risk management
- Experience reading construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedules
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or related field
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Manufacturer certifications
- Experience implementing Lean Construction or Continuous Improvement initiatives
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Experience with ERP systems, project management software, and operational dashboards
Physical Requirements
- Live or relocate to Jacksonville area
- Ability to travel regularly to jobsites throughout Florida
- Ability to access rooftops and active construction sites safely
- Ability to climb ladders and navigate commercial roofing environments
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Pay: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
