Full Job Description

Job Overview

Pronto Freight Ways is hiring a night shift driver for a Monday through Friday schedule, 5:00 PM to 3:00 AM.

This position primarily delivers to the Chicagoland area and ORD Airport.

Pay starts at $29.87 to $30.90 per hour, depending on Hazmat certification. If you do not currently have Hazmat, we will work with you to help you obtain it within 90 days. Once obtained, you will receive the Hazmat pay increase.

Drivers are eligible for raises up to $35.02 per hour over a two-year period.

Benefits include health, dental, vision, 401(k) after 6 months, and many more.

To be upfront, we pay straight time after 40 hours. We do not mislead employees, and we believe in being honest and transparent throughout the hiring process.

We are looking for safe, professional drivers with at least two years of verifiable driving experience. We do not hire job hoppers. Pronto Freight Ways is a safety-focused and professional company, and we only hire drivers who carry themselves accordingly.

This is a career opportunity, not just another driving job.

Requirements include a TSA-sponsored background check.

Responsibilities

Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmissions, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
Drive route-specific deliveries to airports and local destinations, managing schedules efficiently to meet tight deadlines.
Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques, including the use of forklifts or roll-off trucks when necessary.
Handle refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, hazardous materials, and dangerous goods with meticulous attention to safety protocols.
Use GPS navigation systems to plan optimal routes, avoid delays, and adapt to real-time traffic conditions.
Ensure proper documentation of cargo handling, delivery logs, and inspection reports for each trip.
Maintain a clean and well-maintained vehicle, conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with DOT regulations.

Experience

Proven commercial truck driving experience with a valid Class A CDL license.
Familiarity with route driving in airport areas and urban environments within the region.
Experience operating manual transmission trucks and handling various cargo types such as freight, refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, or hazardous materials.
Knowledge of FMCSA regulations related to hours of service, load securement, and safety standards.
Skilled in logistics cargo handling including load & unload procedures using forklifts or dump trucks when required.
Prior delivery driver experience preferred, especially within logistics or freight industries involving tractor-trailers or roll-off trucks.
Ability to navigate using GPS systems confidently while maintaining focus on safety and compliance at all times.
