In partnership with educators, government agencies, and community leaders across the nation, Graduation Alliance provides versatile pathways to high school graduation for youth and adults, fosters college and career exploration, and connects job creators to skilled and ready workers. Since 2007, Graduation Alliance has worked with more than 650 state agencies, school districts, community colleges, and workforce boards around the country to recruit, re-enroll, educate, and mentor students. Graduation Alliance also operates The American Academy, an exemplary online high school that is fully accredited by the Northwest Accreditation Commission, a division of Cognia.

Our full-service diploma completion programs can be delivered in facility-based, blended, or fully online settings. These programs are supported with recruiting, transcript analysis, technology, coaching and mentoring, and robust support services.

We also develop and facilitate skill certification packages with tailored support to students of all ages. In coordination with local and national employers, we offer work experience, internship programs and job placement. Position Summary

Graduation Alliance is seeking an Education Research Analyst to support the organization's compliance, growth, funding, and operational excellence initiatives. This position is responsible for researching, analyzing, and interpreting state education department guidance, reporting manuals, accountability systems, funding methodologies, and program requirements across multiple states.

The Education Research Analyst serves as a subject matter expert in education compliance and regulatory research, translating complex state and federal requirements into actionable guidance for operational teams and executive leadership. This role supports organizational growth, compliance, funding capture, risk mitigation, and program implementation by monitoring state developments, developing compliance frameworks, and providing research-based recommendations across K-12, adult education, virtual learning, dropout recovery, and other educational programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Policy Research

Research and interpret state education department guidance, reporting manuals, accountability frameworks, funding requirements, and program requirements.
Monitor state education agency communications, memos, policy updates, and regulatory changes affecting educational programs.
Analyze state implementation guidance and reporting requirements to determine operational, compliance, funding, and strategic implications.
Conduct comparative analyses of state education policies, procedures, funding methodologies, and compliance requirements.

Compliance and Program Analysis

Identify compliance requirements and implementation obligations associated with educational programs, contracts, and funding opportunities.
Translate state requirements into operational guidance, procedures, compliance frameworks, and implementation recommendations.
Develop compliance frameworks, monitoring tools, audit protocols, and risk assessments.
Evaluate education department guidance and determine operational impact on existing and proposed programs.

Reporting and Accountability Research

Research state funding and reporting standards, accountability systems, graduation requirements, and program eligibility criteria.
Analyze the impact of state department guidance changes on student funding, program operations, and organizational strategy.
Support funding optimization efforts through research and interpretation of state reporting requirements and funding mechanisms.

Communication and Reporting

Prepare research summaries, compliance memoranda, implementation guidance, and operational recommendations.
Present findings and recommendations to operational teams, school leaders, and executive leadership.
Respond to compliance, funding reporting, accountability, and programmatic inquiries from internal stakeholders.
Develop training materials, compliance resources, and implementation tools to support operational teams.

Continuous Improvement

Maintain organized research libraries and tracking systems for state-specific requirements, department updates, and reporting guidance.
Identify opportunities to improve compliance processes, operational efficiency, and risk management practices.
Support strategic initiatives through data-driven research, analysis, and recommendations.
Assist with the development of organizational compliance standards and best practices.

Qualifications:
Required

Bachelor’s degree in education, Educational Leadership, Research, or a related field.
Strong analytical, research, and critical-thinking skills.
Ability to interpret complex state guidance, reporting manuals, accountability frameworks, and technical documentation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment.

Preferred

Experience in K-12 education, adult education, virtual learning, compliance, accountability, auditing, or regulatory affairs.
Experience researching state education agency guidance, reporting requirements, accountability systems, and funding methodologies.
Knowledge of federal education programs and requirements, including ESSA, IDEA, FERPA, Title programs, Career and Technical Education, and accountability systems.
Experience developing compliance frameworks, audit tools, or operational implementation guidance.
Experience supporting multi-state educational programs.
