Definition

**This is a Term-Limited position**

**Project management experience in a healthcare environment and OCHIN EPIC EHR experience is preferred**

Under the general supervision of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) Information Technology (IT) Department’s Assistant IT Director (PMO & Applications), the Senior IT Project Manager is responsible for the successful completion of all IT projects. Works with the IT department staff and clients to complete assigned implementations of new IT systems and/or system upgrade projects. Guides IT resources towards ultimate client business solutions and assumes a leadership role in ensuring proper project planning, resources scheduling, project budget management, project evaluation and client satisfaction. This job class is treated as FLSA Exempt.

Essential Functions: Essential functions may vary among positions and may include the following tasks, knowledge, abilities, skills, and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not intended to be comprehensive listing of tasks performed by all positions in this classification.

Distinguishing Features: The Senior IT Project Manager is distinguished from the IT Project Manager II and IT Project Manager I levels by assuming the primary role of project management leadership. Ensures the successful completion of all implementation projects rather than focusing on individual assignments. Mentors the IT Project Manager I and IT Project Manager II staff.

Examples of Tasks

Tasks:

Project Management: Determines, documents, and manages project scope, schedule and budget.
- Serves as project manager on multiple concurrent complex projects.
- Utilizes and strictly follows the approved SRPMIC project management methodology. Ensures methodology is followed by entire project team.
- Communicates effectively to all levels of the organization.
- Takes ownership of project budget and schedule. Tracks project expenses and staff hours worked weekly.
- Prepares monthly status reports and presents project status reports to customers, sponsors, management and administration. Commits to a quality project.
- Leads a project team composed of IT staff, internal customers and consultants. Facilitates the advancement of the project through various phases of project implementation.
- Analyzes projects to ensure conformance with Community and IT strategic plans.
- Seeks opportunities to improve original project intent.
- Resolves the most difficult problems and conflicts, both technical and not technical.
- Ensures that project progress, assumptions, scope changes, issues and risks are appropriately documented and addressed.
- Utilizes change management best practices including organizational readiness, stakeholder analysis, and change communications in order to improve project success and post-implementation customer adoption.
- Develops contracts and manages the contract process for projects.
- Procures and accepts project related equipment, software and any other required purchases for the IT and customer department.
- Manages scope and works with stakeholders to discuss trade-offs and risks of changing scope.
Leadership: Provides leadership and promotes shared responsibility among the team.

Mentorship & Training: Mentors Project Manager II and I to attain the technical and business skills necessary to perform independently and attain further career progression goals.

Mentors SRPMIC staff and vendors on established project management methodology.
Provides training on project management methodologies, MS Project, communication, leadership, and other needed training to all SRPMIC staff, customers, and vendors.

3. Miscellaneous/Other duties:

Performs other IT job related tasks as assigned by the IT Director, Assistant Information Technology Director (PMO and Applications), or Project Management Manager.
This position is required to be the ultimate team player. Significant flexibility, including the ability to embrace change, is required.

Knowledge of the history, culture, laws, customs and traditions of the SRPMIC.
Knowledge of project organization and management including monitoring time and dollar expenditures for tasks performed.
Knowledge of IT management Best Practices.
Knowledge of IT Project Management including project design, cost estimates, deliverables, design review, design reports and project status reports.
Knowledge of Project Management Methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile.

Skill with process flow modeling with applications such as Microsoft Visio.
Skill establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers, users and vendors.
Skill with industry leading project management tools.

Ability to use Microsoft SharePoint 2007/2010.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Information Systems/Technology, Management of Information Systems, Computer Science or compatible discipline required.
- Seven (7) years’ experience in a computer related industry required including experience in the following areas required:
  - Five (5) years working in an IT environment assessing end-user requirements for IT equipment and application systems.
  - Five (5) years Project Management experience.
  - Three (3) years supervisory experience.
  - Professional Project Management (PMP) Certification desired.
- Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education and experience that will allow the applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the job may be considered.

Underfill Eligibility: An enrolled Community Member who closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill

Special Requirements

May be required to work beyond normal work hours at times including night, weekends and holidays.
May be required to complete a Salt River Police Department (SRPD) background check and polygraph examination.
May be required to receive and maintain a Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, Community Regulatory License and State Certification (ADOG).
