UTHealth Houston is looking for a full-time Program Manager to join the Institute for Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease. In this on-site role, you’ll help lead and coordinate multi-site clinical research studies across Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana—supporting study operations, regulatory activities, and collaboration among participating sites. The position includes regional travel and plays an important part in maintaining high-quality, compliant research processes that advance both institutional goals and national network initiatives. We’re seeking someone with a strong foundation in research, strong people skills, and solid administrative abilities who’s ready to take on a dynamic, multifaceted role. The position also entails traditional coordination of clinical trials at our local site in Houston to maintain experience in clinical research management and manage the StrokeNet Lecture series.
The position is responsible for providing comprehensive leadership and oversight for the development, implementation, management, and evaluation of outreach programs, as well as the coordination of multi‑center clinical research studies across Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. This full‑time, in‑person role requires quarterly travel throughout the region and may involve additional travel to sites within driving distance.
The incumbent oversees study operations at multiple clinical sites, conducts monitoring activities, facilitates effective and timely communication among participating institutions, and resolves issues related to regulatory compliance, protocol adherence, and study workflow. The position serves as the primary liaison to the national coordinating center and ensures alignment with established trial network benchmarks, performance indicators, and timelines. Responsibilities include ensuring completion of feasibility assessments, supporting the initiation and start‑up of new clinical trials, and maintaining a clear understanding of research compliance standards and regulatory documentation requirements.
The position requires regular participation in national network meetings and provides leadership for regional meetings to promote collaboration and enhance site performance. The incumbent must demonstrate strong communication skills, professional demeanor, independent initiative, and effective problem‑solving capabilities. Additional responsibilities include training and mentoring study staff; supporting contract submissions within the institutional grants and contracts system; applying principles of coverage analysis; developing and managing study budgets; and reconciling study funds in accordance with institutional and sponsor requirements. The role also includes assisting with patient screening activities as outlined in study protocols.
Overall, this position plays a key role in ensuring efficient, compliant, and high‑quality research operations across a multi‑state region and contributes to the advancement of institutional and network objectives.

Position Summary:
Develops, plans, maintains research and policy analysis. Oversees the general running of the laboratory.
Position Key Accountabilities:

Manages the research agenda for the area.

Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, monitors the progress of projects, and provides supervision and guidance to the research personnel, research nurses and administrative staff.

Facilitates collaboration between clinicians and research scientist, internal and external to the University.

Assists with the annual budget, negotiates service contracts, reports on progress and authorizes expenditures.

Informs upper management of key activities.

Assists in grant proposals to both private foundations and governmental agencies.

May work closely with the Office of Sponsored Projects on the submission of grants.

May conduct or supervise training related to research for internal, hospital, and community groups.

Manages on-going strategic plans for the area.

Communicates with community and professionals to share objectives and outcomes.

Prepares/makes oral presentations at professional meetings.

Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Science or a health administration related field required
Minimum Experience:
5 years of applicable experience required May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
