Full Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and instructionally strong Problem Designer to support the development of elementary math content. This role blends curriculum design, problem drafting, production coordination, and quality assurance. The ideal candidate is comfortable working within established instructional systems while thoughtfully extending and refining problem sets to support student learning.

Responsibilities include:

Developing high-quality math problems that accurately measure student understanding at a granular skill level
Ensuring all problems align with internal learning objectives
Designing problems with varying levels of difficulty to support differentiation and deeper conceptual understanding
Collaborating with the Script Designer, as needed, to align assessment items with instruction and the PPT Designer to incorporate necessary visual elements
Ensuring problems adhere to technical constraints, including digital interactivity, automated scoring, and adaptive learning functionalities
Crafting answer choices that help diagnose student misconceptions and provide valuable learning insights
Developing problems that assess both procedural fluency and deep conceptual understanding
Maintaining organized documentation of problems, solutions, and rationales for future reference and iteration
Strategically planning weekly assignments to maximize efficiency
Designing example instructional artwork and visual models to support conceptual understanding using the CRA framework
Creating detailed art specifications that clearly communicate visual requirements, and collaborate effectively with visual designers
Providing flexible support across project needs, including contributing to curriculum development, resource creation, and team collaboration to meet instructional goals

Qualifications

Required

· Strong understanding of elementary mathematics and progression of mathematical concepts

· Experience drafting, reviewing, or editing educational content

· Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills

· Ability to work within established systems, templates, and instructional frameworks

· Strong written communication skills

· Ability to balance instructional quality with production constraints and timelines

Preferred

· Familiarity with designing problems for digital learning products

· Experience creating or interpreting art specifications

· Experience collaborating cross-functionally with design or production teams

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $35.00 per hour
