Avalon Plantation is located between Lamont and Monticello, Florida and is approximately 35 minutes from the capital city of Tallahassee. It is in the Red Hills region of Florida, which is known for its rich biodiversity, rolling hills, and red clay. The property primarily operates as a hunting property managed for quail, timber production, and wildlife conservation.
Avalon is a spectacular 20,000-acre plantation that includes longleaf and other pine forests, old oaks, natural lakes, and abundant habitat for quail, deer, and other wildlife species. The property is used for recreational enjoyment of its owners and hosts programs to help restore the Gopher Tortoise and the Red-Cockaded Woodpecker.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Homes and Hospitality Manager will oversee the Main House and Guest Homes on the property, as well as manage the surrounding grounds. Responsibilities include providing personal service to the principal owners, their family, and their guests. The position will oversee and manage the residences, which include the Main House, Guest House, and all Guest Cottages; supervise Main House staff; oversee vendors; and manage all projects related to the housing compound. This role will often include event planning and coordination.
This position requires strong leadership, administrative, and technical skills, as well as exceptional front-of-house service and customer service skills. An understanding of high-end guest services is required. Duties are often supervisory in nature but also include hands-on work, including but not limited to, basic housekeeping, laundry, food preparation, grocery shopping, mowing, lawn care, equipment maintenance, and other duties as assigned by the Property Manager.
This is a working position that will supervise and participate in the completion of daily tasks related to the Homes, Grounds, and other property needs as determined by the Property Manager.
You will be responsible for:

Ensuring the cleanliness and impeccable upkeep of the homes, including performing basic housekeeping and laundry duties.

Providing oversight of general repair work, including scheduled maintenance, renovations, and annual improvement projects.

Partnering with the Senior Household Attendant to oversee kitchen operations and assist with grocery shopping, meal planning, and food preparation as needed.

Managing and coordinating guest schedules for onsite and offsite activities, including sporting clays, quail, deer, and turkey hunts, bass fishing, spa appointments, tennis, dining reservations, and other recreational activities.

Running errands and providing transportation for owners and guests as needed.

Overseeing and assisting with the maintenance of grounds, lawns, flower beds, and formal gardens surrounding the Main House, Guest House, Guest Cottages, Barn, and Kennel.

Operating and maintaining small gas-powered tools, including weed trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, edgers, hedge trimmers, and other equipment.

Maintaining records and performing reconciliation of House and Grounds expenses.

Overseeing and assisting with the planting, fertilization, weed control, harvesting, and canning of an onsite summer and winter vegetable garden.

Operating and maintaining garden equipment and implements, including tractors, planters, sprayers, cultivators, tillers, and other related equipment.

Working with the Property Manager to develop and adhere to the Avalon Plantation budget.

Maintaining accurate inventory records and documentation related to home upkeep, grounds maintenance, and vegetable garden management.

Planning, coordinating, and overseeing a variety of events, including holiday gatherings, birthday celebrations, cookouts, and other special events.

Maintaining the upkeep, cleanliness, and appearance of company and family vehicles.

Assisting with landscaping around the Main House and Guest House areas, including operating lawn mowers, gas-powered equipment, and hand tools.

Operating and maintaining ATVs and other property equipment.

Assisting with hunting operations, including preparing breakfasts, lunches, and guest activities, or performing other duties as directed by the Property Manager.

Following all safety rules, procedures, and policies communicated by the Property Manager and the Company.

Performing other duties, projects, and tasks as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has supervisory responsibilities including oversight of approximately four employees.[KG1]
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

Five or more years of experience in the hospitality industry, guest services, or a related field.

Three or more years of experience supervising and leading a team of three or more employees.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
-
Ability to work extended hours as needed, including weekends and holidays. This position requires the operation of vehicles, and you’ll need to possess a valid driver’s license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment. Your driving record will need to meet the standards and requirements of the Company and the Company’s insurance provider.

You’ll need to present documentation establishing both identity and employment authorization within three days of hire pursuant to federal law.

Three or more years of experience working in or managing a luxury home, private estate, or high-end hospitality environment.

Working knowledge of turfgrass management, ornamental horticulture, pruning techniques, fertilization, weed and pest management, and landscape best management practices.

Experience operating tractors, mowers, and other lawn care equipment.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
You will regularly be exposed to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. You will frequently be exposed to firearms, high precarious places and fumes or airborne particles. You will occasionally be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, you must be alert and aware of dangers that are present while working in a semi-remote property environment.
