This position is for Third Shift Only (Monday - Thursday 11 pm - 7 am OT as required)
The Production Team Lead is a working leadership role responsible for supporting daily production operations while developing into future supervisory and management positions. This role serves as the first point of contact for employees on the floor, ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and employee needs are met in real time.
Team Leads are expected to demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, flexibility, and accountability while completing required Atlantic LMS training and continuously growing their leadership and technical capabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Employee Support
- Serve as the primary on-floor resource for production employees during the shift.
- Lead with professionalism, integrity, and respect at all times.
- Maintain employee privacy and confidentiality, handling sensitive information appropriately.
- Coordinate and provide employee breaks and assist with PTO coverage.
- Support supervisors by running point on floor operations and backing up leadership as needed.
- Mentor and coach employees, modeling company values and performance expectations.
- Demonstrate flexibility to meet changing business and staffing needs.
Production & Operational Leadership
- Delegate job assignments based on manpower, skills, and production priorities.
- Demonstrate flexibility to support changing business needs, including shift priorities, staffing gaps, or operational challenges.
- Operate machines, pack products, or assist in any role as needed during absences or high-demand periods.
- Pull new jobs as production orders are completed and communicate job changes to utilities and material handlers.
- Direct manpower during downtime, material shortages, or schedule changes.
- Ensure efficient headcount utilization as directed by management.
- Monitor equipment performance to engineering-planned cycle times.
- Track and support scrap and downtime reduction initiatives.
- Monitor web width, roll change timing, and material usage.
- Monitor rack management and coordinate smooth shift transitions.
- Pull new production orders and close completed production orders accurately.
- Print and manage labels as required.
- Ensure necessary supplies are available in all work areas.
Safety & Compliance
- Report safety hazards, near misses, or incidents promptly and professionally.
- Lead with a safety-first mindset and enforce all plant safety and food-safe practices.
- Follow and enforce Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Understand and execute emergency protocols for fire, tornado, and other emergencies.
- Immediately notify the supervisor in the event of an emergency or safety concern.
- Maintain clean, organized, and audit-ready production areas at all times.
Quality & Documentation
- Lead and enforce Sun America quality standards.
- Support investigations related to QIRs, raw material rejects, and quality documentation.
- Perform and verify quality checks on thermoformed parts.
- Ensure labels match paperwork and job assignments.
- Confirm operator and packer documentation is complete and accurate throughout the shift.
- Verify accurate case counts and correct reporting of material rejections.
- Ensure proper tracking and transfer of roll weights by job and/or shift.
- Perform required layer checks by QC forms and job specifications, including:
- Minimum every other layer checks
- Every-layer checks for designated SKUs
- Conduct frequent undocumented quality checks, with emphasis on:
- High-risk or difficult SKUs
- Problem machines
- New or less experienced operators
- Perform routine quality inspections and immediately report quality concerns.
- Assist with isolation of suspect finished goods or raw materials.
- Monitor work areas for GMP compliance, cleanliness, and safety concerns.
Training & Development
- Complete all required Atlantic LMS courses accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assist in training and retraining employees in packing, paperwork, and safe work practices.
- Continue to develop technical knowledge across all production roles, including grind operations.
- Actively pursue ongoing learning and skill development to prepare for future leadership roles.
- Demonstrate readiness to grow into Supervisor and Management positions through performance, behavior, and accountability.
Supervisory Backup Responsibilities
- Perform necessary supervisory functions when the supervisor is not present.
- If supervisory coverage extends two or more consecutive weeks, supplemental pay may be considered.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet operational needs.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Preferred one (1) year experience working in thermoforming and/or cups operations.
- Strong understanding of thermoforming and/or cups processes and equipment.
- Ability to read measurements accurately.
- Strong math, reading, and comprehension skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office applications.
- Proven communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to lead peers with professionalism and accountability.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods on the production floor.
- Ability to push, pull, and maneuver roll stock.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
