Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Designs gas distribution facilities and associated support systems including cathodic protection.
- Prepares long range capacity piping plans, easements and permits, bid packages and contracts, relocation and letter agreements, redline/greenline proposals, regulatory proposals for service area certification, and main replacement program documentation packets.
- Prepares cost estimates, material specifications and schedules, system capacity and pressure study modeling and analyses.
- Prepares and submits minor construction drawings for facilities.
- Prepares economic feasibility studies and makes customer contribution recommendations for new loads and system replacement work.
- Prepares presentations for customers and management.
- Manages deadlines to complete projects to time and budget.
- Coordinates efforts with customers, and government agencies.
- Provides design support to local gas operations.
- Prepares operational procedures to complete projects.
- Communicates with district employees when necessary where corrections need to be made or assisting them with a problem.
- Mentors and trains new employees.
- Designs larger more complex projects, for instance projects with multiple feeds and installation procedures.
- Leads and coordinates the design and construction activities with internal and external individuals and groups.
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the permanent natural gas distribution system records including its evolution, development, archiving, and maintenance.
Education:
Requires a bachelor’s of science degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Civil or other approved engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
Requires a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in utility design or related project construction design and a Professional Engineer License.

Physical Requirements:
- Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Able to bend and stoop for filing.
- Able to view and operate a personal computer monitor or laptop screen and sit for long periods of time.
- Able to operate office machines including telephone, photocopier, fax machine, calculator, scanner, etc.
- Able to operate a motor vehicle including ability to enter and exit the vehicle unassisted.
- Working Conditions:
- Able to respond to emergency on call assignments.
- Able to work indoors in normal office environment and outdoors with occasional exposure to all weather conditions, hot, dirty and/or greasy equipment and noise when at field installation sites.
- Able to work regular daytime hours.
- Able to work occasional weekends and evenings as required.
- Able to travel outside of primary work location, in any weather conditions and occasionally overnight, to field locations, remote areas, conferences and/or meetings.
- Able to wear personal protection safety equipment, such as respirator, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, and ear plugs occasionally as required by the work.
Pay: $64.00 per hour
