About the Role:
As an Estimator, you'll be a key part of the project team from the very beginning.
Working closely with our Designers, Project Managers, Fabrication team, and trusted vendor partners, you'll evaluate project requirements, develop detailed cost estimates, and help ensure projects are profitable, realistic, and positioned for successful execution.
Your work directly impacts our ability to deliver exceptional client experiences while maintaining the quality and craftsmanship Synergy is known for.
What You'll Do:
Develop Accurate Project Estimates
- Review renderings, construction drawings, specifications, and client requirements.
- Prepare complete estimates for custom exhibits, branded environments, signage, millwork, rentals, and experiential activations.
- Calculate costs for:
- Materials
- Fabrication labor
- Graphics
- Rentals
- Freight & logistics
- Installation & dismantle
- Vendor services
- Equipment
- Verify dimensions, quantities, production methods, and build feasibility.
- Ensure estimates align with company pricing standards, project budgets, and profitability goals.
- Obtain required internal approvals before pricing is released.
Collaborate Across Departments
- Partner with Design to understand project intent and recommend cost-effective solutions.
- Work with Project Managers to confirm scope and budget.
- Coordinate with Fabrication and Production to validate manufacturing methods and labor requirements.
- Participate in project review meetings to ensure estimates reflect realistic production expectations.
Support Purchasing
- Solicit competitive pricing from resource partners and manufacturers.
- Compare quotes and identify the best value without compromising quality.
- Review proposals, proofs, and order confirmations for accuracy.
- Assist Procurement with purchase orders and sourcing recommendations.
- Consider lead times, inventory availability, and manufacturing capabilities when developing estimates.
Manage Estimate Revisions
- Update estimates as project scope evolves.
- Analyze financial impacts of design changes.
- Clearly communicate revisions to internal teams.
- Maintain version control and complete documentation throughout the estimating process.
Improve Future Projects
- Participate in post-project reviews.
- Compare estimated costs to actual project costs.
- Help identify trends, improve estimating accuracy, and strengthen internal processes.
What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in estimating, project costing, budgeting, purchasing, construction, manufacturing, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret drawings, renderings, and technical documentation.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Excellent organization and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative mindset with a willingness to work across departments.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following industries:
- Trade show exhibits
- Custom fabrication
- Millwork
- Commercial interiors
- Signage
- Construction
- Architectural woodworking
- Experiential marketing
Experience working with materials including:
- Wood
- Metal
- Acrylic
- Laminates
- Graphics
- Printed substrates
- Hardware and specialty materials
Experience with Basecamp, ExhibitForce, or project management software is a plus.
