Job Description:
The Receiving & Inspection Technician is responsible for receiving incoming materials, performing basic dimensional and visual inspections, verifying documentation for accuracy and traceability, and ensuring all received materials meet company purchasing and quality requirements before being accepted into inventory. This role is critical to maintaining product quality, regulatory compliance, and complete material traceability within an aerospace manufacturing environment.
This position requires exceptional attention to detail and the ability to accurately verify measurements, quantities, certifications, and documentation. The successful candidate will work closely with Purchasing, Quality, and Production to ensure incoming materials are properly inspected, documented, and available to support production.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
Skills & Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to:
· Receive incoming materials and verify quantities against purchase orders and packing slips.
· Perform basic receiving inspections by measuring lengths, diameters, quantities, and other simple dimensions using measuring tapes and basic measuring equipment.
· Conduct visual inspections of incoming materials to identify damage, coating requirements, part identification, obvious defects, and other nonconformances.
· Review Certificates of Compliance (CoCs), material certifications, and related documentation to ensure all purchase order requirements are met, including material specifications, revision levels, heat numbers, lot numbers, and traceability information.
· Verify all required documentation is complete and accurate prior to accepting materials into inventory.
· Accurately enter receiving transactions and inventory information into the ERP system (Global Shop).
· Maintain complete traceability of incoming materials through proper identification, certification retention, and inventory records.
· Generate Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMRs) and coordinate with Purchasing and Quality when discrepancies or damaged materials are identified.
· Prepare outgoing materials for shipment, including packaging, labeling, and shipping documentation.
· Maintain accountability for customer-owned, government-owned, and controlled materials in accordance with company procedures.
· Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits by maintaining organized receiving records and traceability documentation.
· Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely, as authorized.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving and warehouse work area.
· Communicate receiving issues, material shortages, documentation discrepancies, or quality concerns to leadership in a timely manner.
· Follow all company safety, quality, and export control (ITAR) requirements.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to regularly lift, carry, and move items up to 50 pounds.
· Comfortable working in high-temperature and industrial environments.
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods of time.

· Ability to work independently while collaborating with Purchasing, Quality, Production, and Shipping personnel.
· Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to escalate discrepancies appropriately.
Knowledge & Experience
· High school diploma or GED required.
· 1–3 years of experience in receiving, inventory control, warehouse operations, manufacturing, or quality inspection preferred.
· Experience in an aerospace, manufacturing, or other regulated environment is preferred.
· Basic understanding of receiving, inventory management, and material flow within a manufacturing environment.
· Ability to accurately read purchase orders, packing slips, Certificates of Compliance, material certifications, and shipping documentation.
· Understanding of basic dimensional measurement techniques using measuring tapes and other common measuring devices.
· Familiarity with material traceability concepts, including heat numbers, lot numbers, and certification requirements.
· Experience using ERP systems such as Global Shop or similar inventory software is preferred.
· Basic understanding of quality inspection principles and identifying obvious nonconforming materials.
· Forklift certification or the ability to become certified is preferred.
