The Assistant Store Manager plays a vital leadership role by ensuring the daily operations of the store reflect our mission, values, and commitment to excellence. Working closely with the Store Director, this position leads the sales floor, supports production and donation operations, coaches employees and volunteers, and creates an exceptional experience for every customer and donor.
This leader is passionate about serving people, developing teams, and maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment where generosity is transformed into community impact. The Assistant Store Manager leads by example, balancing operational excellence with servant-hearted leadership.
Reporting Relationships
Reports To: Store Director
Supervises:
· Sales Floor Associates
· Volunteers while on duty
· Team Leads as assigned
Key Responsibilities
· Lead daily store operations in partnership with the Store Director.
· Model Greater Goods’ values through servant leadership, hospitality, integrity, and accountability.
· Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a positive, customer-focused environment.
· Assist with onboarding, training, scheduling, and daily supervision of team members.
· Communicate Greater Goods’ mission through daily interactions with customers.
· Accurately process cash, credit card, and other approved transactions.
· Resolve customer concerns professionally and compassionately while following operational standards.
· Monitor merchandise quality to ensure only clean, high-quality items reach the sales floor.
· Keep fitting rooms clean, organized, and customer ready.
· Stock shelves, racks, and sales floor displays.
· Assist with merchandise presentation, promotional displays, and floor set updates.
· Communicate operational concerns, customer issues, and transaction discrepancies to Store Director.
· Maintain adequate staffing coverage and assist with daily work assignments.
· Open and close the store as assigned, following cash handling and security procedures.
· Attend required meetings and training sessions to remain current on policies and procedures.
Qualifications
· A year or more of retail leadership.
· Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
· Demonstrate an ability to lead, motivate, and collaborate with employees.
· Positive attitude.
· Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
· Experience with cash handling, scheduling, and point-of-sale systems.
· Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative team environment.

Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
· Frequent use of hands for operating registers and handling merchandise.
· Ability to safely lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
· Ability to bend, reach, sort, clean, and organize merchandise throughout the workday.

Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
