TRAUMA-INFORMED ORGANIZATIONAL CONSULTANT

Housed Working and Healthy (HWH) is expanding rapidly and is seeking a Trauma-Informed Organizational Consultant to support the well-being, resilience, and effectiveness of our staff, leadership team, and organizational culture. This role serves as a trusted partner to leadership and employees and has expertise in change management, secondary trauma, burnout prevention, conflict resolution, psychological safety, and trauma-informed organizational practices.

HWH helps unhoused people on their path toward self-sufficiency with a culinary program that provides job training and mental health support, leading to sustained employment. HWH serves a population that has extreme trauma in lived experience, and hires staff with similar lived experience.

Position Description

The consultant will provide on-site individual coaching, facilitate staff support cohorts, guide leadership development, and help the organization navigate complex interpersonal and systemic challenges through a trauma-informed lens. The ideal candidate understands the impact of chronic stress and secondary trauma on helping professionals and can translate trauma-informed principles into practical strategies that strengthen trust, communication, accountability, and organizational health.

This position offers a unique opportunity to serve leadership who has a strong desire to create and sustain a trauma sensitive work environment and influence organizational culture, strengthen staff well-being, reduce burnout, and help create an environment where both employees and the people they serve can thrive.

Scope of Work - 6-10 hours monthly

Staff Training: 1-hour monthly trauma-informed care training during staff meetings.
Staff Development: 3-hour quarterly team cohesion and experiential training during all-day staff development days.
Individual Support: 6 hours per month of 1:1 staff support and secondary trauma debriefing.
Leadership Coaching: Individual and joint executive coaching for the Operations Manager and Executive Director to strengthen organizational health, effectiveness, and alignment.
Organizational Goals: Drive long-term staff cohesion and measurably reduce employee turnover.

Required Qualifications:

· Licensure & Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of licensed mental health work with active state licensure to practice as a mental health therapist through DORA (Department of Regulatory Agencies).

· Clinical Breadth: Experience working across a variety of mental health settings (e.g., incarceration, inpatient, intensive outpatient, group therapy, private practice).

· Treatment Modalities: Proficient in multiple effective treatment modalities (e.g., DBT, CBT).

· Workplace TIC Expertise: A demonstrated understanding of how trauma work translates into workplace settings and directly shapes organizational culture.

· Relatability & Presence: A deep ability to connect authentically with our students and staff in the milieu—whether through lived experience or an innate capacity to "walk the walk" in relationship building.

Preferred Must-Haves & Technical Frameworks:

Proprietary Model: Preference for candidates who have developed their own clinical or organizational framework (e.g., the ERH model from Alvarado Consulting Group).

Crisis & Resolution Training: Formal training in Motivational Interviewing (MI), Restorative Justice, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), De-escalation, or Crisis Negotiation.

Bonus Skills (Plus Factors): Prior employment history in commercial kitchens or culinary environments.)

LOCATION: HWH is currently based in SW Denver (3525 W Oxford Ave, Denver) and will relocate to North Denver (3020 E. 43rd Avenue, Denver) in the fall. The consultant will come on-site for work with the HWH team. Candidates must live in the Denver Metro Area.
