Job Title: Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Director of Finance to support daily accounting operations & month-end close tasks, prepare financial reports, and contribute to audit preparation and tax compliance efforts. This position is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working with complex financial information, solving problems independently, and creating sustainable accounting processes.
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Attendance is fully in-office (Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm).
· Able to work extended hours/weekends/off-site as required.
· Business casual attire (jeans permitted on Fridays).
Compensation: Weekly salary of $1,347.47, plus a weekly bonus of $336.85.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations for multiple entities and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries within the ERP system while maintaining accurate general ledger activity.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for management review.
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for annual financial audits.
- Assist with quarterly, semi-annual, and annual federal and state tax reporting requirements.
- Maintain accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor, employee, and fixed asset records.
- Maintain monthly credit card and automobile allowance schedules.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, leverage technology to increase efficiency, and develop standardized procedures that strengthen the accuracy, consistency, and effectiveness of the accounting function.
- Collaborate with other departments to improve communication, documentation, and operational effectiveness.
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience.
· Strong understanding of core accounting principles (e.g., debits and credits, depreciation, checks in transit, and account reconciliations).
· Experience using ERP or computerized accounting systems to manage accounting transactions, maintain financial data integrity, research activity, reconcile accounts, and support financial reporting.
· Strong understanding of accounting system workflows and the ability to efficiently navigate, troubleshoot, and utilize technology to support accounting operations.
· Intermediate-to-Advanced Microsoft Excel skills that encompass Pivot Tables, XLOOKUPs, conditional formulas, financial reconciliations, and working with large datasets.
· Comfortable working in a non-traditional accounting environment while maintaining accuracy, identifying opportunities for improvement, and balancing operational demands with long-term process improvements.
· Demonstrated ability to analyze accounting issues, exercise sound professional judgment, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA licensed or eligible to take the exam.
- Working knowledge of Sage 100.
- Payroll processing and payroll tax reporting experience.
- Experience supporting annual financial audits.
- Experience with nonprofit, labor organization, or multi-entity accounting.
- Experience with ERP system implementations, data cleanup projects, or accounting system conversions.
