While our office includes a fully accredited surgical facility, this position is entirely administrative and focused on insurance operations rather than clinical or surgical duties.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Insurance Specialist to join our administrative team on a full-time, in-office basis. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in medical insurance operations, with strong proficiency in out-of-network processes, gap exceptions, and single case agreements (SCAs). Experience in plastic surgery is also preferred but not required.
This position is essential to maintaining accurate financial workflows, ensuring clear communication with patients, and supporting the practice’s administrative and revenue cycle processes.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
This is an on-site position, five days per week.
Responsibilities:
Verify commercial and out-of-network insurance benefits.
Process gap exceptions and single case agreements (SCAs).
Obtain prior authorizations, pre-determinations, and medical necessity reviews.
Review and interpret insurance fee schedules.
Assist with preparation of accurate patient cost estimates for procedures.
Conduct claim submission, tracking, and follow-up.
Manage insurance denials and lead or support the appeals process.
Collaborate with external billing companies as needed.
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in our Symplast EMR.
Apply knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding (being a certified coder is definitely a plus).
Ensure timely and organized communication with patients regarding financial obligations and insurance matters.
Uphold a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience as an insurance specialist in a medical practice.
Strong experience with out-of-network billing and benefit verification.
Experience in plastic surgery or another out-of-network specialty preferred.
Proficiency with gap exceptions, SCAs, authorizations, pre-determinations, and denials.
Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding (certification a plus).
Experience using our Symplast EMR or willingness to learn.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to explain insurance decisions to patients clearly and professionally.
Compensation & Benefits:
$27–$30 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Paid weekly.
