About the Role
The CNC Machinist will operate and set up CNC machining equipment to meet daily production goals. This role works primarily with horizontal mills (FANUC controls preferred) and requires strong precision, good problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate CNC machines and assist with setup and program proofing
- Edit CNC programs as needed and document changes
- Verify tooling, setup, and program coordinates before production runs
- Load/unload workpieces and prepare materials for machining
- Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision tools
- Monitor machining for irregularities and make adjustments when needed
- Perform daily preventive maintenance on machines
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Qualifications
- Experience with CNC machining, including horizontal mill setup
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Familiarity with CNC G & M codes, tooling, speeds, and feeds
- Strong mechanical aptitude and machine shop math skills
- Ability to inspect parts visually and dimensionally
- Experience with forklifts, overhead cranes, or heavy lifting equipment
- Good communication and attention to detail
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently
- Must pass a background check and drug screen
Preferred:
- 2-year degree or certificate in Machining Technology (or equivalent experience)
