COMPANY DESCRIPTION

The Tax Collector’s Office, led by Abbey Ajayi, is a vital institution in Broward County, committed to fostering community trust through fair, transparent, and efficient tax collection. Our services encompass property tax collection, local business tax, tangible property tax, vehicle and vessel registration renewals, and issuing fishing and hunting licenses. Our mission is centered on integrity, efficiency, and transparency to strengthen public resources and support a prosperous future for all residents. Located in Fort Lauderdale, FL, we play a significant role in contributing to the community's success and well-being.

POSITION PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The purpose of this classification is to provide administrative support to the employment function in HR.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The functions listed below are those that represent much of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Manages Human Resources activities, as appointed, in one of the following sections: compensation and records, employee benefits, the employee assistance program, HR technology and staffing services.
Manages and provides overall direction to the appointed section staff.
Completes special projects and establishes new policies and programs that improve overall efficiency of the human resource functions in the agency.
Consults with all levels of management regarding human resources policies, procedures and programs specific to area of assignment.
Performs related work as assigned.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business or public administration, human resources management or closely related field. HR Certification is preferred. (One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.) Requires six (6) years of progressively responsible HR professional experience specifically in the areas of staffing, compensation, organizational development, HR technology, and/or benefits depending upon the area of assignment or closely related experience including four (4) years of supervisory experience or closely related experience.

Strengthens alignment and coordination between own work and others', providing well-sequenced activities and exact time frames. Foresees and resolves many potential bottlenecks and delays. Consultation: Creates talent management strategies by using creative business solutions to align with and drive the organization’s strategy, develops vision for critical solutions to organizational HR challenges, uses appropriate analytical tools to provide other leaders with input on strategic decisions.

Communication: Articulates the alignment between HR strategy and organizational strategy, communicates the agency’s mission, vision and values to other stakeholders, negotiates with stakeholders to reach best possible outcome, solicits feedback and buy-in from stakeholders, builds support and inspires confidence through clear communications.

WORK CONDITIONS:

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals, and to communicate orally and in writing.
Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
