About the Role
The Waterpark Architect will report to the Director of Planning and Product Development. This is a key role in conceptualization, design and documentation of a wide spectrum of themed indoor and outdoor aquatic and recreation-based environments—including water parks, surf venues, lazy rivers, wave pools, hotel/resort water amenities, recreational structures, and mixed-use aquatic attractions. This position will be an integral part of a high-energy work environment with fast paced deadlines.
Our goal is to combine blue sky thinking with real world architectural sensitivity, via constructable solutions. This role requires the ability to express ideas quickly and powerfully through strong creative conceptualization, hand and digital sketches, drawings and other graphic visualizations. This position is also tasked with collaborating with the other Planning Team staff by providing production support and receiving constructive peer mentorship, as well as working with other related departments on a daily basis to help provide consistent coordination of high-quality design across all projects phases.
Key Responsibilities

· Create waterpark and resort concepts and master plans at scale showing the relationship between the major park attractions, support facilities, retail/F&B, parking, and landscaping.
· Conceive and develop indoor and outdoor park features and imagery, including developing theming concepts, narrative and supporting imagery and documentation.
· Express ideas quickly and powerfully using hand and computer drawings, sketches, and graphics.
· Create presentation booklets to support project features, project programming, and other goals.
· Develop both AutoCAD, SketchUp, and hand-rendered plans, perspectives, site sections, topo plans, elevation views, and details for a variety of projects copes and features.
· Coordinate design needs with outside consultants, vendors, and project team members through all project phases as directed.
- When required, assist in producing detailed schematic, design development, and construction documents, including architectural plans and coordination sheets.
- Assist with and/or prepare with finish and vendor related submittals, code research, zoning requirements, and life-safety considerations.
- Occasional travel to site locations for field verifications, meetings, or construction support.
- May also serve as a liaison for planning-related communication with internal departments and clients, as well as external clients, architects, and consultants.
- Support a positive culture of creativity, quality, and accountability within the Planning Team.
- Additional duties as needed in support of ADG’s project services and product portfolio.
