Skills The ability to create detailed and exact mechanical designs that meet stringent performance and safety criteria. Strong understanding of CAD, direct experience with simulation software, and sharp analytical skills for applying daily troubleshooting of design challenges that perfect system functionality, are essential for developing and confirming complex models. Communication and leadership skills are critical for coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior staff, ensuring project alignment and knowledge transfer. Duties:
- Lead the conceptualization, design, and development of mechanical systems from first requirements through to production.
- Perform detailed engineering analyses including stress, thermal, and fluid dynamics simulations to confirm design integrity and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure designs meet constructability, cost, and quality standards.
- Develop and review technical documentation such as specifications, drawings, and models to support design development and compliance.
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior engineers, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
- Manage project timelines and resources effectively to meet milestones and deliverables.
- Find opportunities for design improvements and implement innovative solutions to enhance work-product quality and efficiency.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 8-10 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, design, and development. Design only experience does not qualify.
- Strong understanding of CAD software such as AutoCAD, Plant3D and/or CAD Worx
- Fierce understanding of mechanical engineering principles including thermodynamics, mechanics of materials, and fluid mechanics.
- Experience with engineering analysis tools such as CAESAR II, AFT Fathom, Auto PIPE and/or PIPE-FLO.
- Exceptional critical thinking skills aligned with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Persuasive communication skills, both written and verbal.
