Machine Tool Electrician

Balance Technology, Inc. is seeking a motivated and talented Machine Tool Electrician to join our team. We are looking for a skilled professional responsible for field device wiring, cable routing, debug, and hardware checkout. Beyond technical skill, the ideal candidate brings a positive attitude and a high standard of quality. Key Responsibilities:
- Installation & Wiring: Measure, cut, bend, and install electrical conduit and wireways. Layout wire routing for new builds, including E-chain and cat tracks.
- Technical Execution: Read and interpret electrical schematics (AutoCAD, Eplan) and Bills of Materials (Excel). Wire and dress out robots and safety circuits.
- Power Systems: Wire permanent and temporary power (120V, 240V, 277V, 480V) and work with voltages up to 577V and 24V DC.
- Automation & Controls: Understand and wire communication buses, smart devices, and distribution apparatus (switches, relays, circuit-breaker panels).
- Testing & Quality: Perform hardware checkout and test circuit continuity to ensure safety. Verify and install device tags and maintain "red line" drawing mark-ups for engineering revisions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Controls Engineering and Service departments during installation, startup, and debug phases.
- General Fabrication: Drill and tap holes; cut and weld steel structural members when required for installation.
Qualifications for Success:
- Experience: 3+ years of experience with automation, robotics, and/or machine tools.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent with a strong technical background.
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of wiring codes (NEC, IEC) and ability to read blueprints/manuals.
- Aptitude: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to operate power/hand tools for mechanical assembly.
- Reliability: Attendance is a top priority. Must be willing to work overtime and Saturdays as production needs arise.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and climb or balance.
- Must regularly lift/move up to 25 lbs, frequently lift up to 50 lbs, and occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.
- Specific vision requirements include color vision and depth perception for wiring accuracy.
Schedule
- 8–10 hour shifts
- Monday to Friday (Some Saturdays required)
Required Tool List
Candidates are required to provide and use their own hand/power tools, including:
- Testing: Multi-meter
- Drivers/Wrenches: Phillips (#1, #2) & Straight Blade screwdrivers; Allen, Socket, and Combination wrench sets (Metric & Standard); Adjustable wrench.
- Cutting/Stripping: Side cutters (Flush), Cable cutters/strippers, Wire strippers, Ferrule crimpers, and Sta-Kon crimpers (#10-#14).
- Layout & Misc: Tape measure, Combination square, Torpedo level (magnetic), Center punch, Ball peen hammer, Tap handle/sockets, and OSHA-approved Air nozzle.
- Power: Battery or pneumatic drill.
