Full Job Description

We are looking for a Preschool Teacher to start in the new school year (August 2026)!

Position Summary
Teachers work closely with other classroom Teachers to plan and carry out a high-quality educational experience for children, including curriculum experiences and room design.
Teachers also assist with stocking supplies, and care and cleaning routines in the classroom. A qualified Teacher may be in charge of the facility if both the Program Director and Executive Director are absent.

This position is full-time, 40 hours/week.

We are currently unable to sponsor visas. Applicants must already be eligible to work in the United States.

There is no on-site parking. Applicants must be able to utilize either public transportation (we are very close to 24th St. BART and many bus lines), rideshare or find parking in the neighborhood.

Responsibilities and Duties

Plan and carry out a developmentally appropriate educational program in accordance with SF Tikes Academy’s philosophy, mission, and vision; in partnership with other Teachers in the room
Participate in school team meetings
Work with other Teachers in changing the classroom environment around from time to time, as children’s needs and interests shift. Keep it inviting, stimulating, and developmentally appropriate.
Work together with other Teachers to ensure continuity across the entire program.
Communicate and partner with parents in a culturally sensitive, professional way to create the best possible outcomes for the children.
Provide responsive, culturally appropriate care routines for children - toileting, diapering, toilet training, hand and face washing, changing of wet or soiled clothing, putting on or taking off weather-appropriate outdoor gear
Be the designated person in charge of the facility in the Director’s absence; run the daily operations, be available for parents and other teachers, rectify any maintenance issues, and act as the point person for Licensing.
Carry out regular parent-teacher conferences, and extra conferences as needed.
Plan and carry out occasional field trips.
Supervise children at all times.
Performs cleaning throughout the day (with other Teachers) to keep the environment clean, sanitized and disinfected.
Communicates with other Teachers and Program Director as needed with regards to observations, questions, concerns and ideas regarding the program, children, and parents
Ensure the classroom supplies are stocked, areas are clean and safe, and items are in good working order.
Follow the classroom rhythm of the day, making sure things are running smoothly, children are productive and getting what they need, and classroom norms and rules are enforced.

Qualifications

Coursework in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. BA or MA in Child Development or Early Childhood Education highly preferred.
Minimum 2+ years of teaching experience of young children ages 5 and under
Teacher, Master Teacher or Site Supervisor credential
Working understanding of Title 22 regulations
Current, valid EMSA-approved Pediatric CPR & First Aid certification
Mandated Child Abuse Reporter Training
Integrated Pest Management Training
Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus (reading, writing, speaking) but not required.

Physical Capabilities

Be able to walk, run, squat or kneel, bend at the waist, sit on the floor, visually supervise children up close and across a classroom or playground space at all times, hear, speak
Lift up to 45 lbs multiple times on a daily basis

Other:

Proof of non-communicable or negative TB
Proof of Measles and Pertussis vaccinations
Criminal background clearance via Community Care Licensing (FBI, DOJ, Child Abuse Index)
Legally able to accept employment in the United States
Communicate in verbal and written English well enough to be understood by children, coworkers, and parents
