Full Job Description

Dimeta Smith, CPA LLC is an experienced accounting and consulting firm that specializes in organizational growth and expansion. We provide strategies, solutions, and services that ensure clients achieve their financial and operational goals. Our services include outsourced accounting, management consulting, and tax planning and preparation. This is a dynamic organization that has a culture of respect, care, and concern for every team member.

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our growing firm. This is a great role for an independent thinker, with a desire to build with this highly growth-oriented firm, while growing your professional skills. You will cultivate long-term client relationships with our small business clientele, working with them to offer personalized tax planning for their specific and sometimes complex situations, while overseeing an increasing volume of returns.

Responsibilities:

The Tax Manager is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the firm’s tax practice, driving strategic growth, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality tax planning, consulting, and compliance services. This role goes beyond technical execution — serving as a trusted advisor to clients, a leader to the internal team, and a key contributor to the firm’s long-term vision.

The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to client relationships and business development.

Lead and manage tax engagements from planning through filing
Provide strategic tax planning for individuals and business clients (S-Corps, Partnerships, Corporations)
Serve as the primary point of contact for client relationships
Review tax returns for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
Hire, train, and develop tax staff
Improve workflows, processes, and turnaround times
Ensure deadlines are met in a high-volume environment
Collaborate with leadership on firm growth and client service strategy

Qualifications Needed:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
An EA or CPA license is required
Minimum of 3 years recent experience working in a public accounting firm
Significant technical tax experience in high-production volume environments
Proven success in hiring, training, motivating, and developing staff
Experience in Corporate, S-Corp, Partnership and Non Profit returns
Experience managing tax planning for high-net-worth individual clients and dynamic growth companies
Strong understanding of Accounting and Tax Terminology
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Exceptional telephone and virtual meeting protocol
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to meet deadlines
Proficient in the Microsoft 365 Professional Suite, Google Workspace
Ability to be flexible with job duties as required

QuickBooks
Practice management software
