JOB DESCRIPTION

The pay range for this position starts at $17.09/hour, and is based on the level of experience and qualifications above the minimum requirements for the role.

Housekeeping II will be assisting with maintaining an overall immaculate appearance of all historic structures and surrounding guest facilities. Duties will consist of vacuuming; very minor maintenance work as assigned; and general care and cleaning of guest areas, items in the collections, and exhibition spaces. Staff will also perform other duties as assigned by Manager and/or Supervisor from time to time, and provide general assistance and support for the department and company.

Schedule is 6am - 2:30pm (40 hours/week)

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

1. Ensure a positive guest experience by answering inquires, giving directions, and special care to guest needs. Respond to guest emergencies: sickness, uncontrollable bodily function accidents and blood borne pathogens.

2. Adhere to guidelines for historical furnishings maintenance and protection as set forth by Museum Services.

3. Dust, vacuum and maintain one entire floor per week [zone cleaning of approximately 36,750 sq. ft.] while providing support to all departments and abiding by all OSHA guidelines. 4. Vacuuming, cleaning and maintaining all private/closed areas such as: closed rooms, corridors, storage areas, rooftop, behind the scenes tour routes, and organ loft.

5. Responsible for structural cleanliness of house [day cleaning] performed on building or facilities during working hours such as (windows, chandeliers, railings, tiled walls, elevators (inside/top/underneath), organ loft pipes, porches, staircases, ceiling lights and mantels.

6. Clean and maintain sales areas, public restrooms and employee restrooms in all guest areas and occasionally residents’ homes.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. General knowledge of conservation cleaning practices.

2. Must have initiative and be a self motivator.

3. Store, organize, and maintain supplies

4. Work in inclement weather.

5. Will be expected to climb and work from heights of 55ft on scaffolding.

6. Ability to operate mechanical cleaning equipment.

7. Willingness to follow oral/written instructions; establish and maintain a good relationship with leadership and co-workers.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. High school diploma (or GED). Additional education, training, and/or certification(s) preferred.

2. At least one (1) year of previous custodial/janitorial and/or maintenance experience. The ideal candidate will have had prior experience in the same or similar role in another guest service, attraction, or hotel/resort environment, preferably working either second or third shifts.

3. Outstanding attention to detail.

4. Demonstrated commitment to contributing to the delivery of world class guest service through providing clean and immaculate facilities for guest use.

5. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a guest service team.

6. Ability to safely operate commercial cleaning equipment, and to read and comprehend material safety data (MSD) sheets.

7. Ability to be proactive and take initiative where appropriate.

8. Ability to exercise good judgment.

9. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work under deadlines.

10. Must have a valid driver’s license and be at least 19 years of age.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and up to 75 pounds occasionally.

2. Ability to stand/walk, stoop, bend, kneel, reach overhead and below throughout the duration of a shift.

3. Ability to climb ladder/scaffolding up to 8 feet.

4. Visual acuity and the ability to respond to a variety of stimuli appropriately.

5. Ability to work effectively with exposure to dust, dirt, foul odors, bodily fluids, extreme temperatures and/or weather conditions, using the proper safety and protective equipment.
