Early Childhood Teacher 26-27 School Year

Golden Bridges School

Golden Bridges School offers an innovative, place-based education steeped in the urban outdoors of the southern neighborhoods of San Francisco. With a passionate commitment to the development of the whole human being, we strive to harmonize the physical, emotional, and intellectual life of each child.

By bringing developmentally appropriate academic rigor through hands-on experience, nourishment of the imagination, care for the earth, and a commitment to social justice, we equip our students with the tools to become free-thinking, moral human beings.

Our program is delivered indoors and out, at our beautiful campus in the Portola Neighborhood of San Francisco, in McLaren Park, and at Hawk Creek Farm.

For the 2026-2027 school year we are looking for an Early Childhood teacher to join our strong team. This teacher will work collaboratively with the other EC teachers while also having individual freedom within their class.

The type of teacher we are looking for:

Previous experience in an early childhood teaching environment, either as a lead or long-time assistant. 1-2 years of experience in a Waldorf setting preferred.
Demonstrates confidence in Waldorf curriculum and anthroposophy, enough to create a curriculum rather than simply following one from the past that may not serve the students’ needs for today
Ability and desire to collaborate with other teachers.
Inspired to be part of a groundbreaking and developing school in an urban city.
Proven proficiency in building and supporting relationships with families; understanding of differentiated learning styles, from neurotypical to neurodiverse students, preferred
Strong cultural competency and confidence working with diverse family backgrounds striving to create a community that is socially just and equitable.
Aligned with an outdoor teaching model.
Ready and able to teach on-site at our school farm once a week.
We are an evolving program that relies on change and adaptation, we therefore value flexibility in our teachers. Because we are outdoors so much we are also subject to the elements - fire, rain, wind - which ask us to change our schedule for the day at an hour's notice.
If new to Waldorf, then must come with a willingness to do continuing education in Waldorf curriculum.
Ability and interest in collaboration and working as a team.

EC Teacher responsibilities include:

Teach 5 days per week
Arrive by 8:30am and remain on campus until 2pm (teaching contact hours)
Available for substituting for up to 4.5 hours per month (additional subbing will be compensated at a rate of $35 per hour)
Write internal Rising 1st Grade reports
Weekly meetings with full Faculty
Weekly meeting with Early Childhood Cohort
Check and respond to emails frequently, according to employee communication norms
Facilitate 4-5 parent evenings for the parents/guardians of the class
Hold parent/guardian teacher conferences with each family in the fall and in the spring
Provide consistent updates via an email/newsletter at least once per month
Attend one of two weekend school open-house and one EC outreach event
Support applicant interviews and enrollment decision-making meetings
Participate in and support school festivals
Attend all all-school parent evenings (parent education evenings optional)
Attend all in-school provided professional development offerings
In partnership with the Leadership Council, develop a professional development plan for Waldorf education and Anti-racist training. School will pay for all required professional development courses approved within the professional development plan.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree
Previous teaching experience
Waldorf teaching certificate preferred
Able to work in United States

Reports to:

GBS Leadership Council

Evaluation:

Self-Evaluation Annually

Evaluation by Pedagogical Director or outside evaluator biannually

Compensation:

$73,000 Base + Add-ons
