Insurance Defense Paralegal Summary:
The Cavanagh Law Firm is seeking a full-time Insurance Defense Paralegal. Insurance Defense Paralegals are essential team members supporting attorneys throughout the entire legal process, from initial complaint to final appeal. As trusted confidants, they manage caseloads, conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and prepare for depositions and trials. Their meticulous attention to detail is crucial in organizing complex documents, interviewing clients and witnesses, and coordinating with experts. A successful insurance defense paralegal is highly organized, possesses strong communication skills, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of litigation paralegal experience in insurance defense.
- Proficiency in Legal Software: Strong command of legal research databases (Westlaw, LexisNexis), document management systems, and case management software.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and experience with electronic filing systems.
- Legal Knowledge: In-depth understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and court rules.
- Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in handling legal documents and deadlines.
- Organization and Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet strict deadlines.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with clients, attorneys, and opposing counsel.
- Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys and support staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Paralegal Certificate or Associate's Degree: Preferred from an ABA-approved paralegal program.
- Experience with iManage and PerfectLaw.
- Previous experience supporting multiple attorneys.
- Knowledge of the Federal and State rules of procedure.
- Experience with trial software such as Casefleet and Trial Director.
- Experience producing chronologies and reviewing medical records.
Pay: $37.14 - $44.57 per hour
