About the Role:
The Citylight Kids Director is responsible for building a safe, fun, and spiritually formative environment where children can learn about Jesus and feel known and cared for.
This leader sets the tone for kids ministry, develops volunteers into confident leaders, and oversees the execution of Sunday kids environments in a mobile church setting.
This role is both relational and hands-on—leading people well while also stepping into the details that make Sunday work.
What Success Looks Like:
- Kids environments are safe, organized, and engaging every Sunday
- Volunteers feel cared for, equipped, and excited to serve
- Team Leads take real ownership of classrooms and teams
- New volunteers are consistently recruited and developed
- Kids are learning about Jesus in a joyful, age-appropriate way
- Sundays run smoothly even in a mobile church environment
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Volunteers & Teams
Recruit, train, and care for kids ministry volunteers. Develop Team Leads who can confidently lead classrooms and own their teams.
Shape Culture
Set the tone for Citylight Kids—creating environments that are joyful, safe, Christ-centered, and consistent.
Lead Sundays
Oversee kids ministry during services, ensuring classrooms are ready, staffed, and running smoothly.
Ensure Safety & Care
Maintain secure check-in systems and ensure all safety procedures are followed. Respond to needs with care and maturity.
Weekly Preparation
Prepare weekly logistics like curriculum prep, scheduling, supplies, and communication.
Who You Are:
- A relational leader who enjoys developing people
- Organized and dependable with follow-through
- Warm, encouraging, and great with volunteers and kids
- Comfortable leading in a fast-moving, mobile church environment
- Willing to serve hands-on (setup, teardown, classrooms)
- Passionate about helping kids know Jesus
Qualifications:
- Strong, growing relationship with Jesus
- Alignment with church mission and theology
- Experience working with children (required)
- Leadership or volunteer coordination experience preferred
- Able to handle responsibility and safety-sensitive environments
Weekly Rhythm:
This role includes leading Sundays, developing volunteers, preparing weekly environments, and collaborating with staff to ensure a healthy and consistent kids ministry.
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
